Moments by Jonathan Jay Lee. Illustration. 2015.
Jonathan Jay Lee is a Taiwanese-American artist based in Hong Kong. Lee’s surreal, figurative illustrations stemmed from his love for comics, visual story telling and pop culture. Using the energetic, neon scenery of urban Hong Kong as a backdrop, Moments exudes a strong sense of nostalgia and explores the raw feelings of hope, desire and longing within the exhilarating city.
An award winning illustrator and graduate from Parsons School of Design, Lee’s clients included Marvel Comics, Lamborghini, Urban Decay, Lee Kum Kee, Ho Lee Fook and HSBC. He received an MFA from the City University of Hong Kong. He is currently a Professor of Illustration and Sequential Art at Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong.

Once you stop trying to entertain this imaginary audience and start living for yourself things should get a bit better
once a lady told me that if my plants are dying even when I’m caring for them correctly, it means they’re absorbing the curses my enemies are casting upon me. so now when my plants randomly die, I wonder if they died protecting me.
“Freedom and love go together. Love is not a reaction. If I love you because you love me, that is mere trade, a thing to be bought in the market; it is not love. To love is not to ask anything in return, not even to feel that you are giving something- and it is only such love that can know freedom.”
