ofdenouement:
love seemed to be a mystery to the boy before edie came along. he had numerous different girlfriends throughout the years, that’d be an understatement, but they were simply just that. as horrible as it seemed, he knew he could have any girl he wanted and so when the opportunity arose he’d take it if he wanted. but then edie was there and suddenly no other girl in the world mattered. she had changed his outlook on almost everything including love for the better and now ben simply couldn’t imagine being without her. ‘ i’m sure you do, c'mon how could you not ? ‘ and the infamous bejamin lawson smirk played at his lips, one that seemed to always be on full display when he was around her. ben needed constants and certainties in his life. without it how else was he going to make it to the big leagues one day ? that being said, throughout his life he’d had more maybes than he’d like to admit but not edie. no. she was his certainty and complete assurance of the future. aside from baseball, there was nothing the boy was more sure about. if he’d ever had a bad practice, she was there. if he’d lose a game, she’d be waiting with her arms out. maybe ben didn’t see it all the time, but eden was probably more of a constant in the eight months they’d spent together than baseball seemed to be his entire life. ‘ right yeah ! i completely forgot already. it’s the starvation getting the better of me you see, we gotta fix it and soon, ’ he shook his head with a laugh once more. ‘ mmkay, sounds good though. did you decide on a place to eat yet or am i a butt and forgot that too ? ’
it wasn’t as if edie was an especially bad looking girl, quite the opposite, rather instead she was quite simply rather average. there had never really been a part of her that stood out, at least not like the type of pretty girls it was all so easy to picture ben with. the ‘experienced’ girls who turned just about everyone’s heads as they walked by, ben had always deserved someone like that. someone people noticed, and yet despite the many of them at their college they weren’t the one he had chosen, that had been her. though god knew just why. ‘ i mean i guess, ’ she replied jokingly ‘ i suppose that hair is an upside at least, ’ they’ve always been like this playful with each other, so there’s nothing to stop the girl from smirking before getting the male to stop walking so that she could kiss him properly. taking how right the two of them felt when they fit together. the two of them probably couldn’t get more cheesy if they tried, and yet she really didn’t care. her hands wandered, getting tangled in his hair and for a few moments she just let herself get lost in him completely.‘ sounds like a good idea, ’ she agreed, settling against his shoulder‘ pretty sure we picked out pizza cutie, ’ edie hummed affectionately. ‘ we can do pizza, shopping and then you are definitely coming back to my place, ’ edie had always found it comforting to have some sort of plan, to know what her next steps were, besides it was rare that the two of them got more than a moment together, she was obviously going to make the most of it. ben was the only boy she’d ever really been like this, wanting him at her side at every second, his arms were her favourite place, and so she wanted to take every moment she could to be wrapped up in them.
