@sunflower3000
Do you think Teruki won't be able to raise a child properly if he ever adopts one?
You know. Because his parents have never been around, and he doesn't have any good role models when it comes to parenting.
Like...
Teruki : THAT'S IT! GET ON THE FRIDGE, YOU ARE GROUNDED!
The Child : THIS HOUSEHOLD IS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE!!!
thing.
I imagine the fight between Shimazaki and Mob as an attempt by a man to beat a whale to death with a crowbar.
And the problem is that Shimazaki succeeded with a smaller whale (Teru), so he would go to fight Mob, if not with full confidence about victory, then with full confidence about having a great time.
Another quick scketch of Alex
I was practicing values and at the end decided to have a little fun. Maybe i will post my practice there later
Mob psycho 100 is such a great story
I'm starting to think that the way Hanazawa looks is not just a peculiar fashion taste, but rather the result of the absence of parents in his life who could explain the concept of clothing combinations to the boy.
So he figured everything out himself.
I really like that take on Teru and Shimazaki (also helps that I just rewatched that ep yesterday and it's fresh in my mind)
Do you think Shimazaki could also have development like Teru? And Teru also had a bad home life that led him to thinking he was the best (my hc/take is that he gaslit himself into thinking he was the Mc because it gave his suffering meaning. He was going through trials or tests in his story ig. Poor kid was left alone with no family or real friends or support system + a terrorist group on his back) do you think Shimazaki had something happen to him like that or it's just because the power got to his head?
OMG HI HELLO IM SO GLAD THAT YOU ASKED THANK YOU!!! IM ALWAYS HAPPY TO YAP ABOUT THEM!
"Do you think Shimazaki could also have development like Teru?"
Absolutely.
He has all the right qualities, but i think his development would go in a slightly different way.
You see, as i have already mentioned, him and Teruki are as similiar as they are different and both can learn something important from each other.
The thing is : Shimazaki's development can't go like Teruki's, because he has no one to look up (heh) to like Teru does with Mob. And, let's be honest, he doesn't really need it.
Looking at Teruki for a moment, even if he looks up to Mob, he, unlike Mob, has no mentorship. He is comepletely alone on his jorney of figuring out both his emotions and his powers.
In other words : while Mob needs a psychologist, Teruki needs a coach, someone more experienced and strong.
And i think that Shimazaki would have fit this role just fine.
He searches for entertainment and getting on Teruki's nerves sounds fun even for me. Shimazaki even joined the Claw only because it sounded like fun, so why not mentoring a child for the sake of a hobby?
And THATS where he would has gotten get his character development from.
Just like teachers at school learn something new from their students and improve their own knowledge on the matter, by passing on his experience to the child, Shimazaki could learn something from Teruki that he himself lacks of.
Moreover, Teruki doesn't need someone who will just tell him things (like Arataka does to Mob), he needs someone who will CHALLENGE him, make him go wild and push far beyond his own limits.
exactly what Shimazaki did during their fight.
These thoughts are dictated by my hunger for a specific dynamic between him and Teruki, but i still think it could work.
"Do you think Shimazaki had something happen to him like that or it's just because the power got to his head?"
I don't think that powers got to his head. Unlike Teruki, who was convinced that he is the brightest star in the sky, Shimazaki looks at himself quite rationally.
Yes, he says that after the boss he is in second place, but is he wrong?
Don't think so.
Also, while the entire 7-th devision of the Claw spoke in all seriousness about world domination, Shimazaki was here for shits and giggles.
So no, he isn't blinded by his own powers in my opinion, his ass is just blind.
As to second point... Yes, i think might be the case.
Well, at the end there is a MASSIVE headcanon of mine, but let's start from here:
I couldn't find any information about whether Shimazaki was blind from birth or how he lost his sight in the first place, so i began to speculate.
At first, let's look at his main ability.
Teleportation.
Considering the fact that powers come from emotions, what kind of emotions does one need to experience, to make every single atom in their body disappear and re-appear somewhere else?
Fear?
Lonliness?
Disgust?
Also i want to point out that "prediction" of his opponent's attacks isn't one of his psychic powers as long as i know. Because surprise attacks do work on him.
From this, I conclude that this is a SKILL. And skill, as everyone knows, comes with EXPERIENCE.
How often does a person have to be punched in the face in order to start reading any opponent without even seeing him?
Hellova a lot i would say.
What happened to him?
No idea. Bit i think it has something to do with his eyes.
Anyway, my hc is that he was a child, who had been born with psychic powers and probably had not-so-great childhood.
He has lost not just his sight, but his EYES at the relatively young age ( you know, the time when emotions are especially on the high level), had to break the usual way of life at the brightest moment of it, feel vulnerable 24/7 (because you can't just close your eyes and perform daily tasks as if nothing had happened i dare you) suffer a long period of adaptation to a new way of life, the possible absence of someone who could take care of him, make him feel safe as any child deserves to feel
all of this eventually led to the accumulation of a huge amount of emotions, the desire to escape, to disappear.
And at some point, he did.
His psychic abilities changed under the weight of his emotions and he gained one of the rarest abilities: teleportation.
The ability to acquire which a person must literally decompose himself into atoms and make them disappear. But at the same time, the ability that no one will ever be able to hurt, restrain, or control you again.
Also, i really liked your headcanon! It suits him. He and Shimazaki could have had a completely different level of mutual understanding!
While im still on that shit (aka post at the bottom of this)
Hanazawa and Shimazaki are quite similiar in a way.
When Teruki was fighting Mob the first time, he was THRILLED. He was eager to make Mob go full 100% on his ass. Because he has never seen or fought someone as powerful as he is. It must has made him feel ALIVE.
And it didn't quite go away even after he lost to Mob. Hanazawa was still going till the end with every one of his enemies.
He realized that he's not the strongest and not the main character, yes, but he's still looking for a challenge.
And that's where Shimazaki steps in
He shares some of his flaws with Hanazawa. He is arrogant, too self-confident, but the most important of all : he is BORED.
When he sees a worthy opponent on the field - he goes all in. Even when other characters, like former memes of the Claw enter the fight he spends very little time on them, going back to Teruki the second he beats 7th devision unconscious.
Because out of ALL the espers on the battle field - Hanazawa is the strongest one. He was the most fun.
But there comes a difference between them :
Shimazaki knows when to quit.
And this gives him out as a more experienced esper.
Because Hanazawa doesn't.
Just like Reigen said to Mob "you CAN run away and there is nothing wrong with it", but Hanazawa doesn't seem to understand the lesson that happened right in front of his eyes.
Teruki fights till the victory. This strategy is brave, but foolish.
In his fight vs Mob, just like in his fight vs Shimazaki he refused to stop and in the both cases got hurt.
The fact that Shimazaki decided to retreat was not a sign of cowardice, but rather a logical and considered decision.
Because if he was a coward, he would have retreated the moment Mob entered the fight. But he he wasn't scared. He was THRILLED. He forgot about Hanazawa instantly because there was finally someone stronger, someone more entertaining.
The only two things that prevented us from seeing another cool fight were :
1. Shizamaki was hurt. He clearly was a winner in his fight against Hanazawa (and other espers) , but he still got his ass kicked in the process.
2. Reigen scared the shit out of him.
His attac not only shot down Shimazaki's fighting spirit, but also made him think "how many espers that can hide their powers and auras are there?"
And I remind you. If Shimazaki can't see auras, he can't see a person at all. He wouldn't be able to find out who was around him. And the unknown is his worst enemy.
And thats where im leading you with all of this :
Even tho Shimazaki shares some of his flaws with Hanazawa at the beginning, he doesn't have the main one :
Ironically, but unlike Hanazawa, Shimazaki isn't blinded by his own powers.
He openly admits that there is at least 1 person who is stronger than him and this thought doesn't brother him at all (Hanazawa was PISSED when Mob turned out to be more powerful than him).
So in the terms of interaction. Shimazaki and Hanazawa are currupted reflections of each other. So different, yet so similiar in a way.
And they both can learn something important from each other.
And it's a shame that we didn't get more of their interactions. I think it could have been interesting

Trying out krita
It's a cool program once you figure out interface. It even has tetris!
I mean, what else can you possibly ask for?
Anyway, little fast krita study with Alex because what else do i draw?
Continuing the Shimazaki and Hanazawa speech, i would really like to read something about them.
Not the romantical stuff, (there is plenty of it on ao3 and im very much dissapointed by this fact) but rather mentoring relationships or adult esper & young esper dynamic, you know? Like friends or good acquaintances. Serious child & Childish adult dynamic works for them too imo.
I saw only 1 or 2 good fics about them that feature this kind of interactions. But anything will work for me except for romantical relationships between them, really.
I was rewatching Mob Psycho 100 and lets talk about something.
Shimazaki.
When it comes to him people always say "ah yes, the guy who beat up a child", and yes he did and yes he would do it again, but let's admit one thing:
It could not be otherwise.
Let me explain myself :
Shimazaki is blind, he doesn't see shit except for auras and stuff. The entire time he doesn't have any idea how Hanazawa even looks like. And it makes him the most suitable and honest opponent for the boy.
Shimazaki didn't fight like a beast because Hanazawa is a child, he fought like that because Hanazava is STRONG.
The entire 7-th devision of the Claw had lost because they weren't treating Hanazawa and his friends seriously, but rather like children they are.
Shizamaki, on other hand, draws conclusions about his opponent not on the basis of their appearance, but on the basis of their power levels.
That is the reason for him to beat the shit out of the child. Not the fact that Hanazawa is a child , but because he is a threat that can't be taken chances with.
