Mija couldn’t help but be in awe when she saw Kaz’ cheeks go pink, ‘’Long answers are the best, you know you’ve found a good one when they know how to drag out an answer!’’ She beamed, being completely honest. ‘’I bet he’s a good snowball thrower, and makes the coolest snowmen.’’ Mija assumed, smiling. ‘’No, no - we don’t freeze in place,’’ she laughed again. ‘’But the cold can damage our wings, and cold temperatures just doesn’t mix well with fairies.. unless you’re a winter fairy of course!’’
Kaz beamed; being appreciated for how long he could talk felt awesome. He didn’t need too much reassurance, since he thought pretty highly of himself anyway, but it was always nice to get kudos. “Is that a hard and fast rule? Because I’m pretty sure you’re a good one, if not a great one, and your answers always seem the perfect length to me.” Kaz started smiling at the Christmas memories, letting out a sigh as he nodded. “He’s a great snowball thrower. He makes amazing hot chocolate for after, too. It’s the thickest, most chocolatiest I’ve ever had. You’ve gotta try some,” he gushed, “your life will never be the same.” His eyebrows raised at the term ‘winter fairy’. How many fairies were there? “Oh, wow. Sounds scary. Do you have, like, wing doctors back home?”
‘‘You think? Aw,’‘ her smile growing ever bigger. ‘‘Thick and chocolate-y hot chocolate? Sign me the f-up! Seriously, you have to invite me over on winter break and let me taste one of those specials, think your dad could whip me up one of those?’‘ She excitedly rambled as Kaz told her about it. ‘’Well, ‘normal’ fairy doctors usually know how to fix frost damaged wings – but it could permanently damage them and some fairies even lost the ability to fly because of injuries!’’
