me: maybe I should contribute and write out some of the RE8 // Heisenburg content I’ve been craving
my empty guppy brain when I sit down to write: HE’S SICK
we’re not so different, you and I
one of the replies was like ‘especially when it’s a rough cough’ 💀
who the fuck greenlighted these incredibly sexy studies
the idea that someone ill who is letting themself sneeze and sneeze as much as they need to is actively helping treat their cold by doing that bc they’re “getting it all out”......is hot
A has just finished up a sudden mini-fit of four sneezes in a row. They turn to B from out of the cradle of their steepled hands, teary-eyed and thoroughly afflicted, sniffles desperately liquid in quality as they try to catch their breath.
"This climate... it doesn't agree with me".
B tuts lightly, moving closer. "Oh darling, it rarely ever does. But we do the best we can".
just doing some quick research 🧐🔬
Fever care. FEVER. CARE. But specifically, fever care where the feverish one is just coherent enough to know what's happening.
Soft touches with the back of the hand on the neck, the cheeks, the forehead
Tracing fingertips lightly over sweat-damp bangs
Gently helping them sit up and lean back against pillows
"It's alright. You're not a burden."
"Your hands are freezing! And you're shaking. Let's get you back under the covers."
Guiding their head to rest on a shoulder while the medicine kicks in.
"You've always been the fragile one. I should have known better than to let you go out in the cold like that."
Cradling them to get them back to sleep as they run fingers through their hair
Someone who’s sick and curled up on the couch but they still have just enough energy to get excited when their caretaker comes over bc they’re happy to see them
literally don’t even read this post but i invite you guys to consider an esper/telekinetic character using their powers to hands-free induce their partner who may or may not get off on their own sneezes
also: this pair settling into a little game where every now and then, the esper will take initiative and just start hands-free inducing them when they feel like it, and the partner can only really tell what’s happening after they’ve started sneezing more than they know is usual for them.
which makes for an interesting misunderstanding one lazy afternoon, when the character has been sneezing a lot — certainly enough that they “know” it must be their partner’s doing. but then the partner speaks up and asks if they’re alright, or makes some similar comment, and something about the candor or surprise or even concern in their tone makes the other realize it isn’t teasing. and by extension, that they don’t have anything to do with this.
it doesn’t take long after that for them to realize the cold they’re catching.
when a sick character has a coughing fit so intense that they have to hold onto something/someone nearby to keep their balance, sweat dripping down their boiling brow, body shaking with the force of their illness.
bonus points: it happens in the middle of their stereotypical “I’m fine” speech.
Very sexy of me to spend 18 of the last 24 hours asleep
tell me why my brain is like this
I love the concept of a character with a smoking habit that makes it impossible to detect early warning signs that they might be getting sick. It’s already winter, they’re stressed and smoking more than usual, so of course that sore throat makes sense! Their usual cough seems more punctuated and aggressive, but they just laugh it off and tell themselves that they need to cut back. Then one early morning, they wake up with a fever and chills, and their understanding of the situation finally locks into place.
Super bonus points if they still won’t let that cold prevent them from smoking
Good morning Internet, today I am obsessed with men taking a long drag off their cigarette, then pausing for a moment with it frozen between their two trembling fingers before they sneeze once, twice, then resume smoking like nothing happened.
I never want to see the term “cancel culture” in relation to calling out racism ever again.
Or the phrase “things aren’t just black and white” // “that’s a US centric evaluation of race relations” (if you *really* want to get into this, I encourage it; as a first gen American, I can tell you that race/ethnicity *is* perceived differently depending upon where on the world you are. I am, for example, perceived as white in Central America, but not in the US. But I’ve yet to see thoughtful analysis of this. Instead, it’s white people from European countries or UK/Australia/Canada saying they’re not necessarily white, despite not belonging to any ethnic minority, because they want to be absolved of the responsibility of addressing racism.)
Or the phrase “I dated (someone of a particular race/ethnicity)” or “I am oppressed in (x way)”as a deflection of racist behaviors and rhetoric. We are all raised with the implicit biases of our societies, and we are all capable of perpetuating racism, anti-Blackness, antisemitism (as well as homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, etc). In fact, it is an inevitability that we will perpetuate it, due to those implicit biases, unless we actively work to address it. And being part of a marginalized group does not absolve us of this responsibility.
At any rate, I really appreciate everyone who has started and participated in these conversations. It’s important, even in a kink space, to be cognizant about these things 💕💖
