“overwatch is an obvious one. but that’s all business. for fun, i’d say my favourites are the ones where i’m not quite as good? rocket league is a fun one. i’d never say no to some smash bros. tetris 99 is my latest downtime obsession though, because i clearly love to make myself suffer for the entertainment of others.”
“more often than i’d probably like to admit. keys, wallet, entire bags of stuff... you name it. the most memorable would have to go to the time i lost the spare key to my old buddy’s place while he was out for the night. i didn’t wanna cause him more trouble, so i just kinda stayed and loitered outside until morning. it’s surprisingly easy to stay up and alert with the help of anxiety adrenaline, yeah?”
“ it’s been awhile since anyone’s come out with, like, a really good rpg,” the online multiplayer surge had taken over the market with first person shooters and ultimately, little else. companies were even attempting to find ways to convert beloved single-player rpgs into online multiplayer games. which, to jonas, felt like an absolute tragedy. maybe he just wanted to play alone, and people could sit around watch him if they wanted too. again, though, his mentality felt last century. “ so you aren’t missing out on like, super new stuff. ”
with the question of a recommendation, jonas was prompted into thought. his go-to rpgs circled around dragon age and elder scrolls, but with sangil’s mention of not causing immediate stress, the elder was quick to cross the games off the list. “ i hope you know that no immediate stress eliminates at least seven great games, ” he told sangil. “ you’d be better off with a simulation game dude. like animal crossing. ”
palm pressed against his cheek as he lazed, sungil followed the other’s words with a nod of his head to show attentiveness; the same energy of a student eagerly taking mental notes from their instructor. the two obviously came from two very different gaming scenes -- online point and shoot multiplayers were kind of his speciality here -- but he figured it would at the very least be fun to get back to his roots.
“i already play enough stressful games!” he whined, lower lip jutting out in a soft pout. a touch dramatic? sure. but it wasn’t entirely untrue, considering it was his main source of income these days. could he really be blamed for seeking out something more gentle? “animal crossing... alright, i know that one.” knew of it, anyway. “the one with the raccoon loan shark and the cute forest animals, yeah? you have a spare copy lying around by any chance?”
𝙀𝘼𝙍𝙇𝙔 𝙈𝙊𝙍𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂𝙎 were never a favourite of isang , definitely being more of a night owl , and to work them only made the eight a.m. starts more unbearable . entering the building before opening hours , greeted with the fresh aroma of baked goods , isang shared pleasantries with co-workers and began helping with the preparation . he was slow-moving , exhaustion still weighing on bones , as he stocked shelves with the freshly baked pastries and morning specials ; but , there was time and nobody cared at this hour . with the display immaculately presented , and the hour ticking over to opening , isang unlocked the main entrance and cleaned around as he awaited custom .
not long into his shift he was presented with familiarity . “ h-hey , welcome , ” isang greeted , oblivious to the mischief that had claimed a tone , roseate tiers tugging to offer a warm smile . “ um , pay e-extra ? ” response suggested , naive in nature , as brows furrowed with mild confusion .
it wasn’t exactly the reaction sungil was hoping for. gasping like isang’s response had caused him literal, physical pain, he clutched at his heart dramatically, his cute expression replaced with something more wounded. unfortunately for the other, this only added fuel to the fire. even with enough money in his pocket to pay like a normal customer, sungil was kind of determined to get the guy to crack -- or at least give him a compliment or two. whatever came first.
“pay extra? ah, come on... not even if i--” a pause, before he lifts a hand up to his own cheek, balling his hand to make it look like the paw of a kitten, putting on another cutesy expression and making his voice sound a little higher. “do this~? what about now?”
he hasn’t been quite sure of how sungil had wormed his way into the heart he tried so hard to coat in cement , yet , it happened & grayson can’t find it in himself to regret it . there was something nice about having a companion , someone he could trust unconditionally , someone who made life a little easier the harder it had gotten for him . truly , grayson never thought he’d find someone like that after moving , after giving up his dream & his members , after hearing things his father said to him in fits of rage . sungil finds his way into his heart anyways .
it’d been hard to open up at first , to let the other into his life however now , he doesn’t regret it in the slightest . sungil means more to him than he’d like to admit out loud , but knows whenever he looks at him that his heart beats too fast for it to be strictly best friends . it’s what he thinks about when he wraps his arms around the other’s waist as he’s perched between his legs , grayson’s head finding it’s home in sungil’s neck , nuzzling his nose against warm skin , “ stay the night ? ” he asks , hoping he already knows the answer , “ you’re warm , i don’t wanna give you up . ” ( @sungilyj ).
the mask sungil wore in front of others was a surprisingly deceptive one. like an actor assuming a role, he’d somehow managed to convince the world he was something much more than what he actually was, and very few got to see the man behind the curtain. grayson just happened to be an exception. someone who’d managed to get past the walls he’d built in self-defence during the year spent alongside each other. kindred spirits in some ways yet completely different in others, sungil considered it a miracle that the other still wanted to be near him despite his many obvious faults -- thanked the universe on a near daily basis for aligning just right to put the two of them together like this. he often didn’t think of himself as worthy for grayson’s attention, but he’d never dare turn him away. so when the younger of the two curled so close with a quiet plea for his presence, of course sungil would give in without hesitation.
arms automatically move to hold on to him in return, hands clutching at the fabric of grayson’s shirt as he lets out almost nervous sounding laughter, face flushing pink despite his wishes to remain cool. clearing his throat, he continues to pretend he’s unbothered by the close proximity, even though his entire being betrays him. “you know it’s not fair, acting like this, right?” he answers, voice low as his lip juts out in a small playful pout. “it’s literally impossible to say no. have you ever thought about showing some mercy?”
“ i’d believe you, ” he nodded after thinking for a moment, hardly even glancing in the direction of sangil as he did so. it had been his first day off in quite a while, and he planned to spend it promptly sat on the couch for as long as he could manage. he would have planned to play dragon age throughout the day, but without junseo ( with whom he was showing the series ) the game started to feel a bit lackluster, as most things usually did. so he’d settled for the next best thing; bothering someone else until he wasn’t bored anymore. sangil seemed a good enough target. “ i think most competitive gamers are like that. their loss, really. ” he didn’t know that much for a fact, but it sounded true enough. messing with the other was just a bonus.
jonas finally spared the other a glance when he started asking about where to start with rpgs. sangil was cooking with gas. “ you’ve never played the elder scrolls games? not one? final fantasy? mass effect? ” jonas had an adoration for story-driven games; never got the competition of it all. it was a little bit last century. “ world of warcraft is technically an rpg too… if you don’t want to stray from online games. ” he grinned at the question about minecraft. “ technically, no. just a sandbox… why? you itching for the non competitive life? ”
it was an unfortunate truth, that much sungil could admit. anything too story heavy often went pushed aside in favour of training himself in a single video game field, making his backlog of games actually played surprisingly rather pitiful. still, his expression scrunched up at the teasing words from the other, childishly sticking his tongue out in response. leaning back, he sank back down into the plush of the sofa he’d claimed for himself. at the very least, he’d seemingly gotten jonas’ attention now that the other’s apparent speciality was brought up -- hook line and sinker.
“not really,” he admitted, lazily shrugging. “only when i was younger, so the ones i have are kind of old.” letting out a soft hum, sungil couldn’t help but reminisce the days where he sat in his childhood bedroom for hours on end, eyes glued to a screen and a controller in his little hands. “if it redeems me somewhat, i did play final fantasy 7 at least five times over because it was the only game in the house at the time. but, y’know, maybe i just wanna play something that doesn’t cause immediate stress for a little while. any rec’s, chief?”
“would you believe me if i said i’d never actually played that many rpgs?” the question is mumbled in a sleepy tone as sungil lazes across a sofa in one of the sharehouses many common areas, half-lidded eyes watching jonas as the other carries on with his day. the topic is no doubt out of the blue, prompted only by jonas’ sudden arrival in the room, but it’s a subject sungil has been dwelling on for a few days now. as someone who had somehow managed to turn gaming into a profession, you would think he’d managed to master all aspects of the trade when the reality was, in all the time he’d spent honing his skills for the competitive scene, he’d missed out on games with more substance. whatever that meant.
pushing himself upright a little, sungil ruffles orange-dyed hair before pulling the hood of his hoodie over his head for comfort. “like, where would i even start? what ones are popular? is minecraft an rpg? i have many questions.”
45 viewers. 250 viewers. 3000 viewers. sungil watches as the count grows higher, only minutes after posting the call for attention on his twitter page; the link to his stream punctuated with no less than five exclamation points and a sunglasses emoji for good measure. he has no particular plan in mind, but now that he’s summoned the presence of a few thousand people, he figures he better come up with something stat -- letting out a low hum of thought as he reads over a stream of incoming comments. crunching on a potato chip, he buys himself more time as he idly chatters with his subscribers, answering questions and laughing at jokes, until finally an idea hits him. casual games are often saved for casual streams, but that didn’t mean there couldn’t be any excitement. any competition. his eyes widen almost comically as the lightbulb goes off above his head, letting out a soft mumbling of “wait, wait, wait--” as he reaches for his phone.
“i have it, guys. i have the best idea,” he promises with a firm nod, before firing off a text to someone who he hoped was still lurking around the sharehouse even on a sunny weekend. “this will work for sure. my charms are irresistible, you know?”

sungil tried to keep the clattering of pans and dishes to a minimum, he really did. even after living (semi) independently for so long, he was kind of useless when it came to navigating a kitchen. more often than not he’d fuel himself with takeout, but in a stroke of misfortune his favourite chicken shop was closed for the evening, practically forcing him to cook a meal up for himself for a change. the only problem with that was, he didn’t really know how. like any self-respecting millennial, sungil had quickly turned to youtube tutorials for answers, but it wasn’t long until he was facing his next hurdle: actually following through with one.
“this is so hard!” he whined, struggling to open up a bag of flour to use for batter, only to accidentally tear it a little too much and send a cloud of fine white into the air and across the surfaces. the internet had promised him pancakes was the easiest thing in the world to make, and yet here he was, suffering. deflating with a sigh, sungil wiped a cheek with the back of his hand before turning in mild panic as he heard footsteps. half expecting ridicule for his pitiful state, his hands worked to quickly dust himself off as he shuffled away from the mess of bowls and flour, pointing at the display in faux-annoyance as aiden entered the scene.
“crazy that some people would leave the place like this, huh?” he said, as if it weren’t obviously himself who was the human disaster. “could you imagine making this kind of mess? i can’t.”
if there was one thing sungil had learned in life, it was that acting cute often lead to receiving more attention, or more food, and he just so happened to thrive on both. it was relatively early in the day but sungil clearly hadn’t slept yet, instead opting to mooch around for some breakfast and get some fresh air in the process. it was around 9am when he arrived at the bakery, quickly targeting isang behind the counter as he puffed out his cheeks and flashed the good ol’ puppy eyes, chewing on his lower lip for good measure. hands in his pockets, he cleared his throat.
“hey, hey, issy...” the mischievous tone in his voice betraying the innocent portrayal of his expression. glancing at the rows of fresh pastries and cakes, the corners of his lips curved upwards into a smile. “what would a guy have to do to get a generous portion of something around here?” a batting of his eyelashes. “hypothetically, of course.”
what goes on my dudes, my names ali and i’m presenting this absolute mess of a human for all of you here today. my blog isn’t quite set up with info pages yet ( we love a speedy acceptance ) bc i passed out almost immediately after sending in my app, but!!! here’s a bit more info about my son if anyone is interested uwu
if you’d like to plot or something, hit that like button and i’ll come find you!
park sungil, cismale, 20 years old ( a baby ), ePiC gAmEr
born and raised in busan as an only child
his father is a surgeon and his mother a literature teacher, so they’re both doing pretty ok for themselves. in terms of wealth, sungil grew up very comfortably.
with his parents putting their careers first however, sungil didn’t get to spend all that much time with them, and the times he did he was often compared to the children of relatives or neighbours and criticised for his grades in school which kind of sucked
desperate for their praise and attention, as a kid sungil always said he was going to be a doctor when he grows up even though he didn’t really like the idea of it
his parents were happy with that at least, but instead of loving him more, they just made him study extra hard which really really sucked
socializing with his peers was pretty much banned. nobody wanted to be his friend anyway because his parents were so scary, so his only friends were the characters in the games he’d play while shut in his room when he wasn’t reading from textbooks
his mood would plummet a lot tbh and even as a kid he was pretty unhappy but never showed it out of fear of looking ‘ungrateful’ for what he had
as a teenager he learned that he’d get a bit more freedom by lying, which he became incredibly good at especially since his parents seemed to trust him
they’d give him money for lunch and he’d tell them he was staying behind at school or at libraries to study more in a ‘better environment’ but really he was spending all his time at computer cafes to -- you guessed it -- play more video games
it was really his only escape from home so he spent most of his time there, and got really really good at the games he’d choose to play ( mostly first person shooters or fighting games )
it got to the point where he’d even skip school sometimes in order to play all day, sometimes entering competitions and earning some cash of his own
wasn’t too long until he got caught for it though, with one of his teachers contacting his parents about ‘suspicious absences’ a few days in a row
naturally, they were F U R I O U S
they trashed all his games and put him on lockdown basically, escorting him to and from school to make sure he actually went
sungil was pretty much miserable constantly and felt like a prisoner
his solution to this was to pretty much just run away?? with what little money he had, and even stealing some from his parents on the way out, at eighteen years old sungil decided to just skip town entirely
this was how he ends up in yongsa, with his plan being to stay with a friend he’d only ever spoken to in-game before
it wasn’t so bad for a while, but he still struggled greatly with depression and self worth issues
not knowing much else, he continued to play games and was eventually scouted for his talents by a small regional team
so now he kind of plays overwatch for a living, earning money from competitions and streaming, cool
at ninteen he moved out of his friends house and into the sharehouse. he’s been here for a year now
he’s kind of a mystery to some people, being reluctant to explain his history and instead putting on a cheery front 24/7 because if he didn’t make himself laugh and smile all the time he’d probably throw himself out the nearest window or sumn
WANTED CONNECTIONS / PLOTS
1 || kind of a long shot, but i think it would be neat to interact with someone he used to game with a lot a couple of years back? alternatively, someone he games a lot with currently. as competitive as he is, he likes most games equally, and doesn’t mild chilling with some low effort ones just for fun from time to time
2 || someone who recognizes him for what he does. either as a pro gamer, or a streamer. he never tends to go into too much detail about his ‘work’, but word has been spreading of an up and coming player by the name of MADFOX and sungil seems to fit the profile
3 || someone who looked after him a little when he first moved into the sharehouse. boy was ninteen years old and seemed terrified of actually interacting with anyone at first, which was frankly, kind of pitiful. his first friend in the house. someone who showed him the ropes and helped him come out of his shell a little more.
4 || a ride or die best friend. someone who knows the things he never tells anyone; about his family, about his running away, about how much he truly hates himself deep down. someone that brings him comfort just by being there. warning: he can be very clingy when allowed to be, so personal space is not an option for close friends with him whoops.
5 || a crush. puppy love. despite being twenty years old, he’s never actually dated before, or had a relationship of any kind. he’s clueless when it comes to romance, and is lowkey kind of whipped. he’s not sure how to explain his feelings, but when they walk in the room he’s tongue tied and 3 seconds away from a heart palpitation. can be one-sided. any gender is ok.
6 || other online personalities maybe?? youtubers, streamers, ect. he’d love to get to know them, and maybe include them in one of his own more casual streams??
7 || literally anything else tbh lmao if you made it this far i congratulate u
