    A soft paw reaches to nudge her face.

Snowy pushes her way through tightly-wrapped arms and shaking braids, nuzzling delicate fur against a wet cheek. Snowy huffs, slow and steady, reminding.

     Deep breaths. Crying leads to low oxygen, creating panic. Breathe a bit, try not to focus how it feels like she’s still not getting enough air, let it roll. 

      Snowy coos, happy as can be. Snowy’s not afraid so she shouldn’t be either.

This’ll be good for her. She’s safe now, far from a hollow sky, and she’s capable of protecting herself now. It’ll be fun. She’s going to have fun. 

       Damn any memories that claim otherwise.

     This isn’t like before.

He’s not like they were.

      She has a choice now and she can say no.

He’s nice. He’d understand. 

     She doesn’t want to disappoint. He’s so nice, isn’t he? He’s got a good laugh and the Professor respects him. This is okay. This is good. This is okay to learn. 

     Dates don’t mean wedding dresses and forever with a monster.

"Well if you wanna repay me, we can always go on a date."

    Her heart stutters, as if caught upon a shard of glass.

“Ah... that sounds lovely, but... I’m sorry to say that I am not particularly romantic. Are there any movies out, maybe, that you’d like to see? O-or you can come over and we can watch something at home. Professor Kukui has a good movie collection.“

"Oh man, I missed seeing that face." *winks*

    A brilliant, gold-toned flush spreads across her cheeks. 

“A-ah... thank you, Blue. I missed you as well! I’m sure I can’t say it as eloquently as you did, but... you’re awfully cheery, I think, in a particularly special way I haven’t felt from really anyone else.“

     She’s not sure she’s all that comfortable with all this death talk.

Ironically, perhaps, given that she wouldn’t mind death. Maybe it just reminds.

      “I don’t know. I wonder, sometimes, if things would be better if we did things as Ryme City does. No Pokemon Battles, no Pokeballs. Nothing but an honest bond between Energy and Physicality.”

      One beat, two.

        Unsettlingly enough, deja-vu looms.

     “Words can fix anything, given enough time and patience. No one is truly immune to their sway. They’re powerful things, truly.”

      “... but Pokemon Battles take less time, so people tend to do that instead.”

“We should have Lusamine and Necrozma fight each other. Throw in some puns and all our problems will be solved, or at least delayed.”

     “Violence, in this case, most certainly won’t solve anything.”

      “Knowing my Mother, she’ll just seduce the Hollow One and things will get much worse.”

     “It... might be nice, I suppose. I doubt I would look very good in it, however.”
