with a pointed, non-committal “noted” it ended.
the lack of need or want for contact on his side is made clear as day.
and thus it ends. on his terms, on my terms.
“let it rest” is what must be remembered. let it rest. let it rest. let it rest. let it rest.
it’s over. finally and terminally. there’s no need to say “it could have been over months ago” because something like this sticks around until it dies, slowly with a whimper.
there is no need to look at the past, reanalyze old hurts and forgotten hopes. times have changed, as have we.
don’t text him. don’t call him. not tonight. not tomorrow. not a week from now.
feel the emotions, the sting that is still there, inevitably. then let go of it.
know in your restless mind and your bruised heart that it used to be worse. that you’re not dying anymore.
remember all the things he did to you, all the times you almost left but didn’t. remember the pain but don’t dwell on it. it’s over now. it’s peace.
remember the good too. the depth of your emotions. you were the good, not him.
just let go.
let it rest.
don’t call. don’t text.
it is death. but it is peace.
know that he won’t text, that he won’t call. it’s over.
