tbh i think homestuck like REALLY ruined fandom for me, not because it was bad (the opposite, homestuck was the best fandom i’ve ever been in) but because of the sheer size and INTENSITY of it, alongside the fact I, myself, was growing alongside these characters.

Nothing is ever as big, as grand, as intense as homestuck, nothing EVER WILL BE for me. I don’t see folks RACING to make costumes within 30 minutes of a show airing/comics releasing, i don’t feel the drive to draw 90 sketches of the same 5 characters like i did with homestuck, i don’t find the drive to write fic or make elaborate costumes or buy as much merch for other fandoms than i’ll EVER have done for homestuck.

It was so big, everyone was a homestuck, everyone knew about homestuck, and i made a family in homestuck, so attempting to move on from homestuck to fandoms that are never throwing a single grand ball that even TOUCHES on a homestuck’s basic garden party just makes it…. hard…

like yeah, it’s fun, it’s neat, but it’s always just casual. Nothing will ever encapsulate me like homestuck has, and coming to terms with that is bittersweet.
