Homesick, candle, comfort
It’s December, and Character A, who usually goes home for the holidays, is stuck spending it alone and far away from their family. To help them cope with the homesickness, their family sends them a care package with some fuzzy pajamas, a nice warm blanket, and a candle that smells like their very favorite baked good -- cinnamon rolls, let’s say.
As the holidays approach, A starts feeling more and more down about spending it alone. Finally one night, they decide they need some comfort. They change into those fuzzy pajamas, wrap themselves in the blanket, and light the candle.
The smell of warm cinnamon and yeasty dough fills their home. It smells so good that soon A has a strong craving for cinnamon rolls, and gets up off the couch to bake some. As they put on some music and bop around their kitchen, their spirits start lifting, and they feel even better when they send their family a picture of the cinnamon rolls just before they hit the oven and get an enthusiastic response.
When the rolls are baked, A scoops one onto a plate and scarfs it down. It’s the perfect pastry -- soft and tender, dripping with gooey filling and tangy cream cheese frosting. They can’t help going back for seconds, and as they near the end of the that roll and still find themselves craving more, they decide they aren’t going to limit how many cinnamon rolls they enjoy that evening. An hour later, they’re fast asleep on the couch with a smile on their face, cozy and warm and curled up around a very swollen tummy.
