i wanted to provide some more info on what ik, as a sharks fan who got rather spooked when i saw it on tiktok.
ive done some digging, and cant find anything that proves either are maga. i cant remember where i read it, but someone pointed out that kai trump is an avid and competitive golfer, and both will and macklin have been golfing a lot recently. also, as far as i know (and i could definetly be wrong so no one quote me on this) theyre not following any other political figures really.
plus obviously the argument that mack is canadian, and so while that doesnt outrule it, it is also important to remember that trump is quite pushy when it comes to canada; disrupting trade, pressuring them to do things. the what not. and so canada isn't really a massive supporter of him, and their population of those supporting trump is a lot smaller (obviously). so its less likely, at least, that mack would be a trump supporter, and i believe (could be wrong, again) that most people who support trump, if they found out a close friend supports him, would not want to be friends - or at least distance themselves (also not saying anyone should, it's just smth ive seen and experienced)
obviously both guys are young and hockey players, and i am simply a researcher, and ik as much as i do from an odd hour of research. i cant find anything theyve stated about politics, but again, i might have missed smth.
and to conclude! this is not me demanding you write for them. you write for who YOU want, not what other people want. i am simply here because i wanted to provide an itty bit of info.

Now, I can’t say I have any feeling toward either of them really, whatsoever. I’ve never been even a little bit of a sharks fan and I have little to no interest in Mack and Will just for the basis of them not really being interesting to me. I wrote for Mack a little because of the Olympics but I can’t say I’ve thought of him much since then.
I’ll also say that I spare little thought to their specific political views just on the basis of there not being, as you said, much information about that. Mostly, I simply don’t think about them.
I’ll also tell you secret: I haven’t written anything really since the Olympics. 🥲
I haven’t found munch inspiration recently and my inability to focus on writing had been really frustrating me which was explained when I was recently diagnosed with adhd (probably part of why I’m going on this tangent to begin with).
All this to say, it’s not that I’m not writing for them because of their political views or lack thereof, I haven’t been writing much at all.
Further, I have very little room to harbor disdain for athletes with very vague political views because I was one of THE Logan Sargeant writers while he was still in f1 and we all know what his background was.
As well, the NHL is never going to be perfectly leftist or liberal or politically correct so it’s very hard to enjoy the sport while also policing every single thing that happens. I, as a stars fan, have found very little to disagree with about my team but the important thing is is that I wouldn’t dismiss it if something came up.
The important thing, though, is knowing where the line is. Apparently, it’s not with Sidney Crosby shaking hands with trump after he won the Stanley cup. But I know that that line was crossed with the Hughes and the White House which is why I no longer write for them nor am I fan of any of them. Honestly, Tate McRae has left my playlist since then. 
I’m kinda just rambling here but I want to say that I understand your side and I really appreciate both the time you took to write this message and the tact with which it was composed.

I find this a really difficult question to answer if I’m being completely honest.
I started writing for them because of requests because it’s what you guys asked for. I had to learn who Will actually was beyond being a sharks player because of a request.
They’ve both also always felt a little….young? If that makes sense?
I think I’m much more likely to write for Macklin than Will after considering everything from pride tape to nationalities and, of course, the Kai trump thing.
So, I don’t think I’ll write for Will but if my ADHD allows me to have ideas for once, Mack might be on the list
