We generally don’t see the control of young people as a problem, because we were controlled and dominated ourselves as children. It seems normal and expected because we have internalized and rationalized the use of control. We believe without question that it is necessary, and we believe it is the appropriate thing to do for children in our role as parents. However, on reflection we can see that at the core of this paradigm is a lack of respect for children. They are treated as less important than and inferior to adults. We assume without evidence that they cannot be trusted to develop correctly, so they must be taught, disciplined, and punished in order to be guided into the adult world.

If a court of law forced an abused housewife to return to her husband after he took a marriage counseling course, an anger management class, and had a year of probation people would flip out.

If you got out of a relationship and you continue to fail in your relationships but see your past romantic partners in successful relationships maybe it's time to look at yourself and reevaluate what you're seeking in a mate and whether or not your expectations are realistic. Do you want a partner who buys you nice things? Do you get angry when they don't? Stop. It's totally fine for you to want gifts. There's nothing wrong with a person who finds it's romantic when their partner thinks of them and wants their face to light up. But why are you angry? Did you talk about it? Did your partner know you were expecting a gift? What are you really asking when you're asking your partner to fulfill your needs. Are you wanting them to think of you when you're not around? Or do you want them to read your mind? Check your expectations and make sure they're realistic before you stir the pot.

Attention mixed girls - you are beautiful too. It doesn't matter what you're mixed with or if you can find a famous person who looks like you. Even if you feel like you don't fit in. You're absolutely, undeniably, intensely gorgeous. Don't let your self-doubt, your differences, your uniquely you features, or the ideals of others ever let you believe for one second that you aren't beautiful. I've been struggling to find myself beautiful. Half Middle Eastern, half European with dashes of First America here and there. And looking around I never see women with my features. There are no famous beauties with pale skin, wide noses, freckles, hazel eyes, and ringlet curled brown hair. But I'm beautiful. Inside and out. And the only way I know this is because I BELIEVE it. Hold your heads up, shoulders back. If someone doesn't think you're beautiful or sexy or pretty? Fuck them.

I find it increasingly depressing that people who are upset, jovial, angry, or socially overly excited are either "mentally ill" or "on drugs". People have emotions ok? It's not a fucking crime.
