Hm. Just as I am getting sick of having a human name again, tumblr starts recommending me canine blogs that go by collar ids instead. It resonates with me a ton, but most bees don’t get numbered anyways, unless they’re a queen or in a lab setting, and at the moment I am neither. Besides, a human still would be the source of said number, and that doesn’t feel quite right either. I wish I could be referred to by only a combination of pheromones or perhaps vibrations. But then that makes it almost impossible to be referred to in a human-centered environment, much less through the internet, where you can’t really smell anything

I like this because it mimics one form of theriform bee communication, and while I have no clue if theriform bees have identifiers at all beyond pheromones (which I would rather go by, if it was half as convenient), it’s a decent compromise for a human-centered environment, I suppose
Hello hi I think the alterhuman community needs to be more radically environmentalist! I think all alterhumans should look into environmentalism and stuff like Solarpunk. It’s something I wish I saw more discussion of in the community. Many [ though not all ] of us claim relation and connection to our Earth and the environment. I DONT know why we as a community are not more radically environmentalist.

With art fright season coming back around, I once again look back at my main sona and hate it with my entire being. An update isn’t enough, I need to start over. I love this color scheme/concept/whatever I saw from another artist, I’m inspired! Oops now it doesn’t even feel like “me” I’ll fix it to look like me. Now i don’t like it T-T
does anyone else struggle with never being satisfied with their sonas? If you’ve figured out ANYTHING that helps please share, I’m desperate. It’s really not a serious issue but it’s messing up my sense of self and making it hard for me to feel motivated
I see posts all the time on r/therian that go something like:
“Why haven’t I seen a bug therian?”
…and the comments section is flooded with dozens of accounts talking about their bug theriotypes they’ve had for half their life.
It’s strange how there’s this lack of object permanence that occurs with theriotypes / kintypes when it’s not being blasted online. Just because a bug therians isn’t active 100% of the time in the community / in online spaces doesn’t mean they are suddenly “rare” or “uncommon”.
And the implications of this are quite unsettling, as it’s suggesting that in order to be seen / validated you need to willingly put yourself out on display, and showcase your theriotype in a manner that everyone can notice.
Otherwise the only attention your theriotype gets is others treating you like a presumed extinct species. And if said theriotype is found, it’s treated like a “rare species” and placed on an online pedestal, appreciated only because it’s assumed to be the few of its kind.
I think about this a lot when I come on here. Like there’s so much to my therianthropy, and I knew (at least in some way) that I was a bee before I joined tumblr. I very easily could have never made myself known in the community at all. I still would have been a bee, and I still would have been out there. I do get quite a bit of “omg a bug!!” And “I didn’t know that was an option!!” But I have also found a lot of other insects through tumblr alone, and a handful of other bees specifically, some of which who discovered that part of themselves through my blog. Dont get me wrong, I’m incredibly greatful, and I will admit I’m a heck of an attention whore, but I hope I’m not appreciated only because I am a bee. I hope I am remembered for my optimism, kindness, and creativity, all of which i actively worked on (and still am working on!!) for so long to achieve. Not just because I am niche or rare or some bs. I am curious how many niche or uncommon alterhuman species are out there though, who are not forming an internet presence the way we are. If you’re out there, you’re not alone <3
and I’m aware a lot of folks probably put less common creatures on a pedestal unintentionally (I know because I have caught myself doing it on more than one occasion) but this just really resonated with me idk
I don’t usually post these, but the insect memorial rituals hit a bit harder this week, so I felt compelled to honor them here as well
the first was a beautiful sweat bee found outside the greenhouse early this morning
Later this morning, while in the greenhouse, I came across a whole paper wasp colony spread out across the counter, and curled up by the windows, as well as a June beetle, a butterfly, and three other unidentified wasps. They likely all passed due to heat exhaustion, and it is possible that my father switched from the usual wasp repellent we use to something more deadly. I will ask him this afternoon, and if that is the case, ask him to switch back.
Rest in peace all you gorgeous, curious, brave, complex creatures. I sincerely hope that death is kinder than man, and you find security, fulfillment, and abundance in the next stage of your journey through this crazy universe.

Oh boy do I! This was such a fun request to think about, thanks for sending it in!
For starters: tattoos. The first thing that came to mind was black and yellow stripes along your shoulders/upper arm or thighs. Unfortunately, pinterest failed me, so I had to take matters into my own hands. Please tell me you see the vision.
I stylized it a little to be more subtle instead of just blocks of color. You could also leave the yellow sections blank and just have black, as yellow fades faster and may require touch ups.
I would also recommend getting wings on your back!
If you're into a more decorative style, a honeycomb pattern would also be cool.
Next: hair! You could do the halo style or raccoon tails to mimic the stripes. Or possibly both?
For some less permanent options, you can do yellow/black makeup and henna patterns.
And just a few more ideas to top it off:
You could try full black contacts, or possibly yellow ones for a more supernatural vibe.
If youre into more extreme tattoos, you could get antennae on your forehead.
I saw this while scrolling pinterest and I thought it was worth mentioning. If you get a tattoo of a bee on each of your knees you can say that they're. They're you know. The bees knees.
What. I just spent 7 hours with my crush and dude. First of all they like me back, we’re staying ambiguous until we get to know echother and have a good sit down conversation about labels and boundaries, but HERES the kicker: They think therians are cool. In fact they’re mutual friends with one. I only told them that I was “really into therian online subgroups back in like 2020” and they were chill with it!! They said they want to see my masks AND maybe help me make some if I “ever got back into it” and asked me to help them make a fursuit one day (they’re a cosplayer so it’s not the biggest leap but still)
this genuinely never happens to me I think I’m going to throw up I’m so happy
