How exciting - a new logo!
Considering the looming risk of bushfires this summer, have you made plans to ensure the safety of your furry friends in case of an evacuation? 🐾🔥#PetSafety #BushfirePreparedness #emergencyplan #fireevacuation PS. I bred the puppies shown in these images. To find out more, look up ShoreBreakPals Australian Cobberdogs on Facebook or Instagram 🐾🔥
Do you know the Body Corporate obligations in Queensland, to ensure compliance with Building Fire Safety Regulations?
Fire extinguishers must be inspected every six months and annually by correctly licenced fire systems technicians; are yours?
The last in my series encouraging people to have a personal home fire safety plan, I sincerely hope this has been valuable to all.
Knowing the main causes of a house fire may help you avoid a home fire!
You must be prepared to evacuate a building if it is on fire, it is amazing how some people panic during a fire emergency. Please print this little palm card and keep it handy.
The perfect fire evacuation plan is personalised to your building and its occupants, contact us for more information.
All fire training is delivered in person, this ensures it is site specific and discusses procedures relevant to your business or residential building.
Your safety is our priority.
Sometimes the location of break glass alarms takes my breath away, these locations certainly won't be easy :)
Apartment Fire Safety
Potential hazards of apartment living have been well publicised in recent times, usually due to serious fires leading to injury and death.
1. Request a copy of the fire evacuation plan for your building. This document has been created specifically for your building and it will advise you on procedures you are to follow during an emergency.
2. Observe the evacuation diagrams installed within your building, these will be installed in conspicuous positions on the evacuation route. Take the time to identify your evacuation route and the fire equipment installed within your building.
3. Walk your evacuation route, check that people are not placing items that may hinder an evacuation and also that the final exit doors can be easily opened with a single-handed, downward or pushing action on a single device.
4. Attend the annual evacuation practice conducted in your building.
5. Confirm with your Body Corporate that all Fire Equipment is maintained and inspected regularly, including your apartment door.
6. The building management is responsible for ensuring that the building complies with the relevant building fire safety legislation at all times, the QFES has a very useful tool on their website to assist you to conduct this audit yourself - www.qfes.gov.au or contact SCFC to complete this for you.
7. Fit smoke alarms in your own apartment in line with new Qld. smoke alarm legislation and remember to maintain your alarms.
8. Install a fire blanket in your kitchen and take the time to educate yourself on how to use it.
9. If at any time you find you may need assistance to evacuate the building in an emergency, request that a personal emergency evacuation plan be created with the evacuation coordinator for the building.
10. If you discover a fire within the building, immediately dial 000 and request the fire department.
If you would like assistance with any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact Sunshine Coast Fire Compliance to enquire about an emergency procedures package.
Fire Safety Compliance Audit, allow Sunshine Coast Fire Compliance the opportunity to complete a building fire safety audit to ensure your compliance with building fire safety regulations. We have shown a little more detail below.
The owner of a building, business or the person occupying a building in Queensland, has a legal obligation to ensure that the building always complies with the relevant building fire safety legislation.
A comprehensive audit may be undertaken to ensure:
* The maintenance of fire installations is being conducted on time.
* The building Evacuation Plan and Diagrams are compliant and meet the specified format. Ensure alternative solutions are considered.
* Evacuation practices are being conducted on time and Evacuation practice paperwork is being processed correctly.
* Training records are reviewed to ensure General Evacuation, First Response and Evacuation Coordination Team training are being done at the required intervals.
* Review of fire doors, evacuation routes and final exits to ensure they are adequate for task.
At the conclusion, you will be provided with a detailed, yet simple to understand report highlighting any observed non-compliance and offering solutions to resolve.
