Just thinking about how Brutus by The Buttress perfectly fits Spokeishere and his character arcs.
The envy, jealousy, spite and negatives that come with his character's personality very closely remind me of lines in the song, as well as the arcs and character development he's been through.
"The oracle told him to beware the Ides
And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wishing
For untimely death or demise
Or am I just wishing I could be like you?
That the people would see me too as a poet
In Spoke's most recent arc, what some are calling the kingdoms arc, he fears the return of JamatoP, someone who was his friend and someone who could also unravel all the secrets and lies he's spun into a web. "Beware the Ides" was the downfall of Caesar(in the play), and JamatoP could be the downfall of Spoke.
"Something wicked this way comes
And as I set to face it, I'm unsure
Should I embrace it, should I run?
What motivates me? Hatred? Is it love?
What's more wrong, that I too wish to be great"
Spoke's whole motivations for the era slightly after the Exploit Arc, was too be a good person. And it's increasingly clear that he's always teetering on the edges of both good and evil, unable to pick a side with morals in mind. The "something wicked", is himself. The parallels between him and several morally dubious people is crazy and incredible to see.
"My name is Brutus and my name means heavy
I'll guide this dagger into the heart of my enemy
My whole life, you were a teacher and friend to me
Please know my actions are not motivated only by envy
He kills Leowook, justifying it with JumperWho's help, someone who could arguably also be seen as morally dubious at times. And since Leo used to be his friend, I don't think he didn't feel any regret or emotion when he died. I personally believe Spoke cared about Leo at some point, but had to get rid of him in an act of survival and selfishness.
There's more, but I kinda just wanted to go over those lol
