A light flush crossed Declan's cheeks as he glanced away from Dorian. There was something about the mage that always caused that reaction from him. He felt a little bad about it - only a little. Why had he been looking at him like that anyway?

He would have, though. Declan didn't even need to think about that. Sure Dorian knew how to take care of himself very well; all of his companions did. But that didn't mean Dec wasn't going to be jumping in front of them the second they were attacked. He was sure none of them really liked him much, but he thought of them as his friends and he wasn't going to let any of them get hurt.
