10 for SC for the kisses prompt.
(I love your writing very much! Thank you for sharing!)
They do love their grand gestures. Dramatic saves, protective suits, rooms filled wall to wall with flowers, reasons why a Super and a Luthor becomes the synonym for power couple, instead of sworn enemies. They make history with them, after all.
But sometimes, itâs the little things. The ones that just happen, no forethought, no elaborate planning; things that come to them like second nature.Â
(Kara reaching out to rub the tensing muscles in Lenaâs back before a big speech, Lena absent-mindedly smoothing out the tired crinkling of Karaâs brows with her thumb when Karaâs perched on the couch next to her, stuck on a tricky paragraph in her article. Kara handing a cup of coffee to Lena the second she pads out into the kitchen in the mornings, morose and still half-asleep, Lena turning the heat off under the pancakes that Kara was going to burn in another second. Kara always holding out her hand for Lenaâs when they walk, and Lena already reaching to take it.)
â
Their first kiss happens like that, too, just another beat of life.Â
Theyâre in Lenaâs office, another one of Karaâs just dropping by to say hi, and I bought some donuts too! visits, a ploy they both know is to make sure Lena takes a break and consumes something other than coffee during the day. Karaâs already saying goodbye â she really has to run, sheâs expected back at CatCo, but theyâre still holding onto each other, smiling, giddy with a sugar rush and the fake seriousness of Karaâs tone when she reminds Lena âitâs movie night, donât be lateâ and the teasing in Lenaâs voice when she replies âI wouldnât dareâ.
They donât remember who initiates the kiss. Itâs a small thing, feather-light, over in a second, something neither of them thinks about when they lean in to say goodbye. The moment doesnât even register, at first, because it feels so natural, so right â it takes a frozen second of incredulous looks and did-that-really-happen for it to sink in. (Their second ever kiss, a stumbling, giggly, breathless affair that sweeps the table and ends on the couch, happens a minute later).
â
Their first public kiss is much the same.Â
Itâs CatCo, this time, not L-Corp, Lena striding through the bullpen for a meeting with Andrea, but she stops by Karaâs desk on the way. Kara raises her head at the sound of Lenaâs approach, then rises a little from her seat, beaming like she always does, a regular sight for the CatCo staff. But Lena only halts for a second now, cupping Karaâs cheek as she murmurs hello, darling and bends down for a quick peck. Then sheâs already marching on towards Andreaâs office, not even breaking her stride, and Karaâs already back in her chair, a dreamy look on her face, maybe, but hard at work again, ignorant of the shocked murmurs around her. A blink-and-youâll-miss-it moment.
The half of the bullpen who most certainly did not miss it has a terrible time trying to convince the others that dude, Iâm not making it up, Lena freaking Luthor KISSED KARA really did happen on their average Tuesday afternoon.
hello, darling

Daily reminder that nonbinary people who donât want any sort of transition and are comfortable with looking like their agab are valid and it doesnât make them any less nonbinary
Alex, pulling up security footage from behind the tower: making out in the alleyway, really? Do you guys want to explain this or...
kara: first of all, how do you guys know that's us, those two could be anyone--
lena, murmuring: kara. kara, it's fine. we can handle a public indecency charge
Lena handling a public indecency charge:
VILLANELLE
i was thinking of sc now and how kara probably flies to the foundation every day after work so she can take lena home and they can have dinner together. and every time they will decide if they're gonna go to the penthouse or kara's apartment, but every time lena has a bad day she always pics kara's aprt and one day kara asks her why and she blushes and quietly says "i feel more at home there" and now im tearing up
me too, anon.
but also like even after this, even when lena's sleeping there every night and only portalling back to her place to get an outfit sometimes or get the extra food they keep in her fridge bc there's not enough room in kara's, even then they don't realize that lena is really, actually living there. (or they do but they're still kinda half-heartedly gal paling so they don't really acknowledge it.)
until lena goes on a business trip. itâs only a few days and she talks to kara every night but. she isnât there. she isnât the first thing kara sees in the morning. she isnât sitting there across from kara when the have breakfast. (and like, lena isnât really a morning person when she doesnât need to be so there isnât much in the way of conversation, but she smiles when kara hands her her coffee and listens to kara talk about he plans for the day or things she forgot to tell lena last night.) the stack of books sitting beside lenaâs favourite chair hasnât changed, the bookmark still halfway through the first one.Â
then it hits her. not because sheâs missing lena (though she is, so much, more than she expected really) itâs the way all these little things make her smile, warm her heart a little. the way half-finished book and a note on the fridge to pick up more eggs are saying Iâll be back soon. the way the little all the little bits of how lenaâs life have entangled with hers tell kara that itâs not just her home anymore, but theirs. thatâs when it hits her, this thing theyâve been dancing around for months, (for years) the thing they both know but have been too afraid to say: that sheâs in love with lena, and lena is in love with her.
and like. this happens at a kinda inconvenient time bc she has work in like ten minutes and lenaâs already on the plane on her way back. karaâs distracted all day canât focus on anything but she needs to see lena. needs to see her. needs to tell her. she takes off early to go pick her up at the airport. then she sees lena and all this frantic, nervous energy just sorta evaporates. lenaâs there in front of her, sheâs happy, sheâs content.Â
she still needs to hug her for a solid several minutes though.
when they pull apart, lena sorta gives her a once over, can obviously see somethingâs up. but she just smiles and says âhey youâ softly.
kara smiles back, asks her âcan I take you somewhere?â with a tilt of her her head and a sorta sharp little nod that means flying.
even though they hadnât planned this, even though lenaâs got a car waiting for her, even though she doesnât normally care for flying (though has been quite eager to do it lately, at least with kara) she replies immediately.
âof course. where?â
âhome.â
Turns out Kara had nothing to worry about
