A German Lunar X-Prize team has announced its intentions to send two mobile probes to the Moon to inspect the lunar rover left behind by the Apollo 17 mission. Finally, something that’ll get the Moon landing conspiracy nutters to shut the hell up.
Time to settle he debate once and for all I guess.
Thermos gear, your favorite blender, and pet beds lead off Wednesday’s best deals.
Good stuff in here, especially the Sony headphones and the Sonos gear. Do want!
Seeing this drone fly through Venice Beach in Robert McIntosh’s Fresh Squeeze in what looks like a perfectly planned flight is just lovely. The drone zips through a bicycle, seamlessly slips inside handrails, pops into holes, and cuts through structures so seamlessly that it feels like the world is unfolding before you. It’s especially nice because it’s going in reverse, so you don’t see what you’re going to see next until you already see it. Uh, if that makes any sense.
Now THIS is awesome usage of a drone!
Ford introduced the all-new 2018 Ford Fiesta in a big warehouse they disguised as a club in Germany, so naturally they invited a production-line robot to come disk jockey the launch party.
Feisty funk fest!
We already saw how the new $1.6 billion sarcophagus—the 843-foot wide, 354-foot tall steel shield that entombs the radioactive material leaking from the damaged nuclear reactor left over from the Chernobyl disaster—was going to be put in place to replace the old concrete structure that enclosed the damaged reactor in a picture but here’s a time lapse showing the entire process. Seeing the gigantic arch structure slide in shows what a feat of engineering this was. It’s a really, really, really snug fit.
An unfortunate reminder of the disaster, but a valiant effort to prevent further damage. Kudos!
One of the coolest things about Iron Man is his ability to fly, but since we don’t have access to Tony Stark’s technologies just yet, these jetpack-wearing daredevils, flying alongside an Air Force aerobatics display for the first time, are the next best thing.
Holy mackarel is this good or is this goood. Awesomeness.
James Gunn has released the first look at his newest pet project, The Belko Experiment, where a bunch of white-collars are trapped in an office building and forced to fight to the death. Sign me up- for the movie, not the death part.
This looks...awesome. Sign me up.
