Wakanda Forever? | Mandy Sekiguchi
Mandy had always embraced Black and Asian heritage, he has been a member of one of the most successful Japanese groups up to date, and finding the most beautiful black woman to call his wife. He had it all and he would never change it for the world.
But he also had a newfound interest in a certain superhero.
T’Challa Udaku, or you can call him Black Panther.
Mandy had watched a lot of Japanese movies in his lifetime, never seeing people who looked like…
him.
But when he seen American movies, seeing Black people in the stereotypical light, or seeing black people in service roles, attending to white people or different colors.
So when he seen the Black Panther trailer, he was in love, reading comics, watching interviews of the cast and everything. You smiled watching him talk on and on about the movie, so when it finally came out, he was in the front rows, watching everything.
“Y/N! Look! Look!” he whispered, gaping at the city of Wakanda, in love with the Afro futuristic designs, the intricacy of the clothing patterns, and most of all the people, although he was half Nigerian, he had never seen so many people who looked like him, and had richer, more sun kissed, and darker features, 4c hair, and tribal patterns, the tie-ins of all African tribes made him truly grateful to see this movie.
When he seen Killmonger for the first time, he was elated, he was so so happy to see Killmonger, and when he heard Killmonger’s reason he immediately loved Killmonger.
He was upset by the ending though, feeling Killmonger could’ve been dealt with better, he stayed through both credits scenes, telling you, you shouldn’t leave because they have other scenes after the credits.
When he walked out of the theater, he rambled on and on about the movie. He was so happy by the movie, he rambled on and on about the characters, and you smiled at him being so smiley and happy about seeing the movie.
When he seen the movie was out on Blu-ray, he took a detour home and went to buy the movie. He was so happy, you watched it each time he set eyes on the movie.
“Mandy, babe, I love you, but do we have to watch this again? This is the 5th time!” you whined.
“Wakanda Forever?” Mandy said as somewhat of a excuse to get you to watch it again.
“Yeah but babe-”
“Please? Babe, you know that I’ve never seen a movie where I see so many people like me and I see my culture in this aspect. I still wanna relish in it babe…” he said.
“Fine babe. Wakanda Forever, just this one time!” you said. He smiled, letting Thank you fall out of his mouth over and over again. Before scooping you up and giving you tons of kisses.
You smiled as he pressed the remote, humming All The Stars by SZA and Kendrick Lamar.
