Feeling a crunch in a non-crunchy food is one of the most terrifying experiences you can have while eating
hard to swallow pill: not every person u care about is gonna care about u in the same lengths, ur capacity to love n care isnt for every one of them

AMERICAN REFLEXXX
holy shit
American Reflexxx is a short film documenting a social experiment that took place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Alli Coates filmed performance artist Signe Pierce as she strutted down a busy oceanside street in stripper garb and a reflective mask. The pair agreed not to communicate until the experiment was completed, but never anticipated the horror that would unfold in under an hour
The result is a heart wrenching technicolor spectacle that raises questions about gender stereotypes, mob mentality, and violence in America.
You see how quickly it escalates– and how quick people are to harass when they feel there is no reprecussion. But as soon as they are confronted, they ran away.
Notice that it’s a cis woman who shoves her down and that there are cis women hurling slurs at her right along the men. You can’t just chalk this up to male violence and act like it’s not your business. Cis women who consider themselves allies need to take a stand against violent transmisogynist cis women just like men need to take a stand against violent rapist men and white people need to take a stand against white violence.
This was really good
A reminder why we still need Pride…and why Pride that is not Trans inclusive is utterly useless.
When we say we’re more afraid of you than you are of us, we aren’t joking. When we say that cis women have a hand in our oppression, we aren’t *fucking* joking.
Fresh Off the Boat - “Hi, My Name Is…”
YES
Why Uzo Aduba wouldn’t change her name:
My family is from Nigeria, and my full name is Uzoamaka, which means “The road is good.” Quick lesson: My tribe is Igbo, and you name your kid something that tells your history and hopefully predicts your future. So anyway, in grade school, because my last name started with an A, I was the first in roll call, and nobody ever knew how to pronounce it. So I went home and asked my mother if I could be called Zoe. I remember she was cooking, and in her Nigerian accent she said, “Why?” I said, “Nobody can pronounce it.” Without missing a beat, she said, “If they can learn to say Tchaikovsky and Michelangelo and Dostoyevsky, they can learn to say Uzoamaka.”

They can learn
I’ve worked with many exchange programs on campuses, and they still “encourage” Chinese students to choose English names for their stay in the US. I’ve adopted a rule for myself, I won’t address them with their English name until they’ve told me to stop trying their real name on at least three different occasions. My family is largely immigrant, and while we’ve never had this problem, I don’t think anyone should have to change who they are when them find a new home, even a temporary one. So far, only two exchange student actually wanted to keep their English name, and one of them, Alice, had had Alice for a nickname since she was little.
Don’t know if it’s okay to add this here, but I used to work with a Chinese woman who had changed her name to Angelina for the sake of ease. When she first told me that was what she’d had to do, I asked her for her real name and if she minded me calling her that. She looked so frikkin happy, and it only took about two minutes for me to say it right. It’s not that people can’t pronounce these names, it’s that they won’t. It’s lazy and it’s rude.
It’s also RACIST.
Say ‘racist’.
They pronounce Tchaikovsky and Schwarzenegger just fine.
^THANK YOU. Babies of color,
MAKE THEM SAY YOUR FUCKING NAME. ALWAYS.
ALL OF THIS
This will always be my favorite gifset. Ever.
im morally obligated to reblog this every time i see it
I REMEMBER LAUGHING SO HARD AT THIS IT’S BACK
Under no circumstances is it okay to call your kid stupid
Under no circumstances is it okay to call your kid lazy
Under no circumstances is it okay to call your kid ugly
Under no circumstances is it okay to call your kid worthless
Under no circumstances is it okay to call your kid idiot
Under no circumstances is it okay to call your kid fat
Under no circumstances is it okay to make fun of your kids gender
Under no circumstances is it okay to make fun of your kids sexuality
Under no circumstances is it okay to make fun of your kids grades
Under no circumstances is it okay to make fun of your kids hobbies
Under no circumstances is it okay to make fun of your kids mental illness
Under no circumstances is it okay to make fun of your kid or call them names
Given the amount of ancestry tests, websites, and television, it shows no matter how unextraordinary you feel, future descendents will find your life endlessly fascinating.
Someone born in 1989 is more a “90s kid” than someone born in 1999
Grandmas all around the world using danish butter cookies tins to store sewing kits is as mysterious as having the same kind of ancient pyramids built on different continents.
Watch: It’s your right to share your salary, not doing so could be holding you back.
At my last company, one day someone in accounting approached me at lunch and quietly told me I need to ask for a raise because I was way underpaid.
They gave me a number to shoot for. It was about twice than what I had been making at the time.
So I went online, did some research, found some figures backing up my claim, put it all together and went to my boss.
I got what I asked for.
If it hadn’t been for that person in accounting telling me I was way underpaid, I’d have never known. I went from barely scraping by to being able to have a savings account and getting all my debts paid thanks to them.
You should at least check sites like salary.com to start the process of seeing what you should be making.
Because this is crucially important
Except for the fact that 90% of the time you are under contract not to talk about your salary otherwise the company can sue you. Every job I’ve had I’ve had to sign that I won’t discuss my pay with other employees otherwise my employment is terminated and the company will take legal action.
It’s actually illegal for companies to forbid wage discussion, they’re just counting on you not knowing your rights.
Correlation is not causation.
The human brain is amazing. It functions 24/7 from the day we are born and only stops when you’re taking a test or speaking to someone attractive.
“As fuck” has become a universal unit of measurement
