Off Duty
Skidding to a halt, the neon formed figure finally materialising before the officer, those sharp olive eyes settle on the woman’s face before raising a brow. “Who said I was lookin’ for Delsin?” he inquired, shifting his weight a bit before quirking a small smirk.
"I highly doubt you came by to say hi to me, Abel."
living hell ;
Just getting across the 5-20 was more hassle than she was willing to deal with. She was sore and angry and her throat was hoarse, but she needed to get home. It was all over the news -- that some psychotic bio-terrorist had killed Augustine, that it'd all been televised, and she didn't really need to look to see who had been the one to do her in. She stood among a mass of others, huddled together, frightened, at the docks. The bridge was too damaged to be cross-able. The only way out of the city was by boat, and everyone within their right mind was trying to get out. How long'd she been out? She boarded the first boat she could, a decent sized ferry that was going to travel south along the coast. A quick stop at Salmon Bay left her in a place that, at least, was familiar. But something was missing, the air was different, and something like dread coiled in her stomach. The road from the Cannery to the Longhouse had long been cleared of the fallen trees that Hank had left behind, though the scenery seemed forever scarred, charred black from the incident. She passed the overturned car that had not so long ago pinned her in place. The wreckage of the truck had been hauled away, but now in it's place was countless emergency vehicles. Ambulances sat empty, cop cars -- her guys -- pulled over onto the grass. And past them was a sight that left her winded. Splintered wood and ashen wreckage, futilely taped off with strands of yellow and black. Where was -- Where was the Longhouse? Her mind felt scattered and her skull throbbed angrily, made her ears feel hot. She found herself moving faster, and faster, until she very nearly tripped over herself. " -- What's going on?" It was a desperate question, because in her heart, she knew, and as men who served under her turned, with surprise and relief, she saw the dread and grief that plagued them, too. Above all, their eyes held pity. EMTs scouring the wreckage for survivors moved agonizingly slow, and that told her all she needed to know. Her breath shuddered, and she wanted to collapse, to mourn, to bury her fists in the dirt and damn herself because somehow, somehow this had to be her fault. Instead, bitter tears stung in her eyes that refused to fall, and her voice, harrowed, cut through the growing ringing in her ears. "Dear God.. Delsin... What'd you do..?"
; waking nightmare
She doesn't remember much. She knows she was talking, that there were faint traces of pain that were crawling up her legs, her arm, her chest, and there was Delsin's face, desperate and determined, and -- "Dammit I am so proud of you --" His protests had died just past his lips, frantic murmurs, " -- always have been." Maybe not for what he'd done in Seattle. He could have done some things differently, she knew that -- but before all of this.. this Conduit nonsense? She'd been proud of him. For staying strong. Not giving up on what he felt passionate about. And sure they'd disagreed, it was nearly the only thing they knew how to do, but it didn't change the fact -- "I love you, bro." Fingers slipped from firm grasp, and she was falling, falling, and swallowed by the waters of Puget Sound. And she'd accepted death as a friend, then, as the last of her breath was stolen from her -- and she was sinking, down, down. While consciousness slipped away, there was a flicker of blue, a faint buzzing, and she felt her body rise through the waters, back to air. That darkness was replaced by brilliant light, but still breath was short and heartbeat shallow. Left on the docks, those angels flocked back to search for their master, to fish Eugene and Fetch out of the water and free them of their concrete prison. When she woke up, it was to the sound of her heart, causing the monitor to her left to beep steadily, and strong. No one was there. No one knew she was. When she finally managed to flag down a doctor, ask what happened, he simply stated she'd been found by the water by a small group of citizens, and an ambulance had called and dragged her here. The concrete, not set in bone, had been easy enough to remove, and there was water in her lungs -- at that point, she stopped listening, dressed herself, and made for the door.
"He never hurt you!"
He does the same with his own badge, frown deepening into something closer to a scowl when pulls his jacket away from the metallic badge and holds it out away from his chest.
"What cereal box did you pull that thing out of?" Leaning in slightly closer, close enough to read the print, he’s about to point out flaws in the badge when he notices that there are none. Down to the identification number, it’s practically an exact copy of his own, save for the slight difference in their names. Squaring his shoulders and placing a hand on the cuffs worn on his right hip, he adopts an even stiffer posture.
"We can forget this ever happened if you hand that over right now and leave the premises. I will not hesitate to detain you for questioning. This is your last warning.”
For good measure, he adds “Delsin’s little joke is not worth it.”
"You're certainly welcome to try -- but it's my truck in the parking spot, remember?" [ She tucks away her badge and squints suspiciously at his, not willing to lean in so close after he'd issued a threat like that. She takes a half step back, not in retreat, more in a manner to defend herself should the need arise. ] "You're determined, though, I'll give you that."

what's it like to not have boobs?
"—oh, for heaven’s sake.” His sigh is nothing short of exasperated. “I’m Reggie—” He holds up a finger, tilting his head, to let her know he’s not finished “Reginald, not Regina—Rowe. Did Delsin put you up to this? You can tell him you had a great big laugh at my expense, but this isn’t funny. Impersonating an officer is a crime, if you weren’t aware.”
"I am well aware, Reginald." [ Okay, it was cute at first but this was getting out of hand. She pulls her badge, all shining and gold and marked with her name, and holds it by her shoulder, lips pursed and brows lifted. ] "Look, I don't know who you think you are, or how the hell you know my brother, but whatever you're trying to pull here is done."
"Funny, last I checked, this spot was reserved for the sheriff—Reggie Rowe. Which is me. Do I need to repeat myself?”
"Yeah, Reggie Rowe as in -- Regina Rowe. You feeling okay there, pal?"
Hey, what do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
" -- I get the feeling you're going to tell me either way, so -- what do you get?"
"You’re in my parking spot. I don’t have time to deal with this. Please just move your vehicle before I write you a ticket.”
"Funny, last I checked that spot was reserved for the sheriff. Which is me."
Don’t start with me.
" -- I'm sorry, what?"
This is Siberia ;
A group of total strangers stand be fore you, ready to take on the most extreme adventure ever created. In this real life social experiment, there are no games, no votes, and above all else; No rules. They may do whatever they have to to win a five hundred thousand dollar prize. And the only way out, is to forfeit, and go home.
; The Reality
A group of strangers have signed themselves up for a revolutionary reality show, where they will be left to fend for themselves in a settlement tucked away in the Siberian wilderness, one of the most untamed places in the world. No luggage, no luxuries, just the clothes on their backs and the will to take on what Mother Nature has in store. The only rules for competition, are that there are no rules. They will be surrounded by five hundred square miles of woods in all directions. Most places are only accessible by helicopter. They will be forced to live as people did a hundred years ago, and survive until the end of winter. Those who do will split the five hundred thousand dollar prize. Their settlement is a recreation of an outpost found eerily abandoned — the people who lived there had vanished without a trace, left food still cooking, fires burning. They can only hope not to suffer the same fate. They will be abandoned with a camera crew, left with no help whatsoever, no trace of their modern lives. Limits will be tested. Lives will be lost.
Verse Information ;
So, basically, the characters are divided into two categories; cast, and crew. This is an Alternate Universe based on NBC’s Siberia, and as such, there will be blood, angst, and death. Aside from the natural dangers of living in the wilderness (hypothermia, starvation, dehydration, attack by standard wild animals), there is a mysterious, bloodthirsty creature lurking in the woods that may be responsible for the disappearance of those original settlers a hundred years ago. The only guaranteed way out of this alive is to press the distress button and call for a helicopter evacuation. Once you do this, you are out of the game, no if’s, and’s or but’s. ( I also will prepare several NPCs for systematic slaughter, unless a PC volunteers ~ )
