The Bald Knobbers was a vigilante group in the 1880's and the classical American view of a vigilante. An individual wearing mask riding in the middle of the night seeking justice against a corrupted government that lets the guilty walk free, the old school  mask avenger!The Bald Knobbers started because the local government let murderers walk free,and elite families basically controlled everything.So 12 men came together and created The Bald Knobbers to fight for justice and avenge the innocent. But over time the group grow into the hundreds and lost sight of their mission,and begun the path of criminal activities(A tragic irony). Vigilante groups is a common trend in American History, it can be dated back to The War of the Regulations(1765- 1771) where citizens took arms against a corrupted government, and in later years in the wild west where citizens took the law in to their hands.Even in the 20th century America, average citizens took the fight to corruption such as The Battle of Athens Tennessee (1946) where armed citizens lead a rebellion against a corrupted government rigging the vote. Crime/corruption fighting is in The American DNA, creating superheroes like Batman! and action heroes in movies and literature, the idea of someone doing what the police won't is romanticize and loved by people and is active in story telling.But as to real superheroes is not as active as it once was,but they're masks heroes still out there.The superhero movement has gain ground and in recent  years increased. But heavily criticized by media and political groups. That might be do to the police state and the over whelming corruption,and that political hate against people that defend themselves against abuse. The whole "you shouldn't have the right to defend yourself,that's what the police are for" right the police like the LAPD and NYPD that shoots on innocent people that kind of look like the suspect they're looking for(or looks like nothing like the suspect). Anyways this looks cool,I don't know who the artist,sorry.
