Emmett* Till, but yes! The more you know!
His failed attempts to bring the Emmett Till tragedy to television forced him to get creative
The miscarriage of justice proved a galvanizing point in the Civil Rights Movement. Rod Serling, a 30-year-old rising star in a golden age of dramatic television, watched the events play out in the news. He believed firmly in the burgeoning medium’s power for social justice. “The writer’s role is to be a menacer of the public’s conscience,” Serling later said. “He must have a position, a point of view. He must see the arts as a vehicle of social criticism and he must focus the issues of his time.”
Soon after the trial concluded, Serling, riding off the success of his most well-received teleplay to date, felt compelled write a teleplay around the racism that led to Till’s murder. But the censorship that followed by advertisers and networks, fearful of blowback from white, Southern audiences, forced Serling to rethink his approach. His response, ultimately, was “The Twilight Zone,” the iconic anthology series that spoke truth to the era’s social ills and tackled themes of prejudice, bigotry, nuclear fears, war, among so many others.
legend tells of a mysterious being called “nuance” that allows multiple things to be true at the same time. some say you can still hear its voice whispering in the trees
me: wow im super sensitive and emotional right now. what the hell is going on
the notorious menstrual cycle:
Literally me every month: "I feel like everyone hates me." "I'm never going to amount to anything." "All my dreams and passions are meaningless." "Wait...what day is it??" "OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" "Nah, we're good." "I just need to eat a chocolate bar, have a good cry, and have no one to talk to me for AT LEAST an hour."

the notorious menstrual cycle:
This is the best idea in the history of film.
kill the imposter syndrome in your head because not only is there someone out there doing it worse than you, they’re also using chat gpt to do it
"adults trying to stay "hip" and keep up with youth culture and being years late is so cringey"
adult secret: its all intentional. nothing will prepare you for how fun it is to watch a teenagers face as you dab at them. i will floss when they least expect it and I will love every second of their horror.
thinking about “you haven’t met all the people who will love you” and like!!! you also haven’t found all the things that will make you happy!!!! there will always be new authors and musicians and artists whose work you will one day discover and love!!!! there will always be new hobbies and skills for you to learn and feel fulfilled by!!! there will always be new things around the corner that will bring sudden and unexpected happiness!!!!!!!!!!!
the "Point", my dear agitators, co-conspirators, and revolutionaries, is kindness
I am shocked at how many people don't have an actively hostile relationship with advertising
I am skipping your ads as fast as I can. I'm skipping past your sponsor read. I'm muting the tv. I'm muting the tab. If they get too annoying I will simply stop trying to watch.
If advertisers can use every manipulative trick in the book to get me to buy their product, I am fully within my rights to do everything I can on my end to make their job impossible
Inside of you there are two wolves
