To anyone else who is going no contact, I know it is the hardest thing in the world. Something in our reptilian brain urges for the connection with our parents, in a way that runs past logic. I broke no contact a couple of days ago to share some urgent family news. She steered away from her usual tactics of attack and name calling, and tried instead to use the tactic of guilt and shame. I am deeply disappointed in myself for letting my guard down…and the countdown starts again from day 1. #nocontact #nocontactwithparent

i was hired to do custom poetry at an event celebrating powerful, impactful women in New Jersey. it was so wonderful talking to them and transforming their words into poetry. they shared with me topics like “being a strong woman of color,” “the unease of being a mom and a career woman,” and “finding love after divorce.”

their wounds, their courage, their determination was exquisite. there were so many entrepreneurs, educators, stay-at-home moms, all endearing, all inspiring. ♥️ thank you for having me.
