Throughout her tirade, Salazar listened and watched with an expression bordering on boredom; this was not the first time they have had this argument……but based on the dangerous glint in his dark eyes, this would be the last time it occurred.

Finished with her proclamation, Mariella pointed at the opening to the clearing they were standing in. “Now leave,” she demanded. “There’s no light yet…..you’ll have enough time to return home before dawn breaks.”

Disinterest gave way to a satisfied smirk. “So you do care for me,” he practically purred. “Despite your vehement objections, your abhorrence for the man I was and the creature I now am….you care for me.”

“……yes,” she bit out. “Yes, I do….damn you, I do!”

Barely conscious, blood streaming from the wound on his chest, accidentally inflicted by his own hand, Armando Salazar just registered the soothing words before darkness covered his vision and his mind. His body was limp when they pulled him from the anchor and onto the deck of the Pearl.

Taking him into her arms, Mariella hurriedly pulled away the charcoal stained coat to get an assessment of his wound: deep, but thankfully no where critical, if treated swiftly he had a good chance of survival. She supported the unconscious captain against her chest and looked desperately up at the crowd that had gathered around them.

“Help him,” she pleaded. The oddness of this did cross her mind, how she could now be begging for Salazar to survive, when not long ago she hated his very existence. Evidently, Captain Barbossa thought the same.

“Pardon me, if I find it mighty strange of ye to be pleading for his survival when just hours before I could see flames burning in yer eyes whenever he spoke,” Hector proclaimed sardonically.

Mariella had no response.

Barbossa: Are they flirting?

Lesaro: I think so.

Mariella: We are not flirting, we are arguing!

Salazar: We're flirting!

sometimes self-care is writing oc x canon fanfiction

by which I mean, in addition (but very rarely) to the other ships you’ll — hopefully in the next century — see me writing fanfics about, I’d also like to start writing some stories involving my OC x Salazar for a multitude of reasons, one of which being I’m trying to live a “I don’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks” kinda life.

again, it won’t be often. I think I’m gonna choose one day of the week where I post at least one story involving that pairing; it’ll be sort of a deadline, forcing me to ensure I get some writing done.

when I started shipping it if I did: probably from the beginning? I can’t really think of a time when I didn’t ship it, honestly.

my thoughts:

What makes me happy about them: even death can’t tear them apart.

What makes me sad about them:

things done in fanfic that annoys me: I haven’t really read that much fanfic, so I don’t really know about anything to be annoyed by. There is one thing I can think of that isn’t exactly fic related, and I wouldn’t say it annoys me because everyone can interpret a character however they wish, it’s just a different view from how I personally characterize them: okay so, I see a lot of suave, seductive Salazars and blushing, bashful Lesaros, which is different to how I imagine them, at least in romantic situations (not necessarily with each other).

In my mind, to put it simply: Lesaro has game, and Salazar doesn’t. At all. He looks like he would, Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome, but no. The man’s pretty much spent his whole life devoted to annihilating pirates, that doesn’t really leave time for learning how to wine and dine people. Now unassuming Lesaro, on the other hand, may not look the part of a Romeo, but guess who has several lovers scattered across the seven seas? (He’s not a love em and leave em type though, don’t get me wrong; very generous and respectful.)

My happily ever after for them: alive; Armando apologizes for all the bullshit

who is the big spoon/little spoon: they take turns, though I see Lesaro being the bigger spoon more often than not.

You know, I’ve kind of been developing the headcanon lately of Lesaro being absolutely devastatingly Amazing in bed, and Salazar being more the playful, boyish one as a lover. Having said that, I think Lesaro is more inclined to be surprised if someone he’s attracted to actually likes him back, whereas Salazar *expects* to be found attractive and might get a rude shock when he’s put in his place… I dunno, just my feeling, you can disagree.
