❝ Oh- well It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance Walani. ❞
Ah, so this girl was the surfer she’s seen out on the ocean before? Well that made things a lot more easier. And with everything already laid out in front of them, there really was no reason to demand anything else right? She just wanted to know if the girl could chart seas and give her pointers in doing so.
❝ Oh well actually- ❞
She couldn’t even finish her sentence before the other disappeared to her chests, in search of some mystery item. Alright, perhaps it would be something on the same topic of charting a sea? That could be extremely helpful. Hopefully it’s something worth her time.
Wynola waited quietly, glancing around the shabby camp with mild interest. Well, the place seemed comfortable at least. She’s seen lower class houses before, seemed about right.
❝ I know it’s in here somewhere, just give me a second! ❞ Stuff was flying out of the chest, twigs and gems only serving to make the ground dirtier than it already was. Just when it seemed like she must’ve emptied the entire thing she gasps. ❝ Found it, found it! Here it is! ❞ She lifted the blue paper above her head. On it was... a ton of yellowy-green gunk. ❝ Ignore that, it didn’t mess with the print or anything. ❞
Walani ran over to Wynola, brandishing the blueprints right in front of her face.
❝ It’s for something called a Cartographer’s Desk! It’s not much, you probably already have one, but I found it a few days ago and I doubt that I’ll be needing it anytime soon. It’s all yours. ❞ That made her feel a little better, sure it probably wouldn’t help that much but even if it doesn’t it could work as a little fuel for a fire.
quotth:
One would think after spending nearly two years on an island of weirdness and wonders that a monkey with a golden shovel wouldn’t phase her. Yet, even watching the monkey scuttle away left her with ever last questions. The most prominent being ‘why’ and ‘could I steal that shovel from a money.’
Her sisters’ camp was quiet organized, Winerva made extra sure everything was in tip top order. A section for the crafting machines, a second for the cookware, a second for miscellaneous things. It was quite the set up, one anyone who appreciated the finer things in life would appreciate. But this set up, good lord. It made her want to organize it. But alas it was not her camp and she was sure if a random person saw her sorting through their stuff, she’d earn her first death. Luckily she was smart, smarter than most people. A thing Wynola prided herself on after all.
Glancing up at the girl, she straightened herself out and patter her awfully heavy-looking dress.
❝ Oh- Pardon me. I’m Wynola Blanc, I was wondering if you’ve seen a woman who surfs the ocean? I would like to ask her some questions about- well- if she knew how to chart an ocean. ❞
Perhaps coming out clean wasn’t the best idea but it wasn’t like her request was anything malicious. Normally the sisters were well known for requests to such a degree but today was a day of learning, and Wynola always prided herself on learning.
After growing up the way that she did, Walani wasn’t usually one to take too much pride in something that she’s done. Surfing was one of the exceptions, she was self taught, she could ride waves that other girls could only dream of even seeing. It was something that she couldn’t help but be proud of.
❝ Oh, well that would be me. Name’s Walani. I like to think I know a thing or two about surfing, I don’t think I know that much about mapping stuff out though. I kinda just, you know, go with the flow? ❞ That was most definitely a pun, one that you can bet she’s used before.
Walani felt a little bad about not having anything to help this, um, Wynola. Not exactly broken up about it, but a little... what’s the word? Uneasy. It was probably nothing.
❝ Soooooo... What ex- Wait a second! ❞ She ran over to one of the chests further off, how could she forget about this?
@surfesque
This world was unlike the one her and her sisters had ever seen. Wynola had made it her goal to study this new part of the hellish dimension she was teleported too. Part of that study was to take a boat and chart the seas that surrounded the mainland- at least as she called it. However she wasn’t a ‘seadog’ by any means, she was an intellectual, a brainiac with extensive knowledge on how the world worked. Physics, statistics, those were her savvy. But she did recall seeing someone out on the ocean once before. Perhaps if she could find them again she could have some knowledge on how to chart an ocean? There was no way to find out unless she made an effort to learn after all.
After coming through the Florid Postern, the girls got a glimpse of many more survivors, more than they ever thought were actually on the island. Whether it was the same as their island they weren’t sure.
However that fateful meeting didn’t last too long, some decided to stick together while others went off to survive on their own. Either way, they were all stuck in the same boat now, so to speak.
But it wasn’t had to at least track down one camp, approaching cautiously, the prodigy tried to make her presence known in the gentlest way possible.
❝ Er- excuse me, is anyone here? ❞
It didn’t take long for Walani to figure out how this world worked. Well, it did. Originally she was one of the people who went off in a group, hoping that more people would result in a higher chance of surviving, if not escaping. A week didn’t even go by before she was kicked to the curb. Now she was on her own.
The small camp that she’s set up wasn’t the most organized out there. Structures were placed with seemingly no pattern to them, chests were scattered about with heavier items just left out anywhere. The only thing missing was an actual occupant, nobody to be seen but the creatures of the jungle. One such occupant, a monkey, ran past with a golden shovel clutched in it’s hands. A minute or two after that though it became obvious that the monkey was running from something, or rather, someone.
Walani was running out of breath, she’s been chasing this monkey for hours. How was she supposed to know that she couldn’t teach a monkey to dig stuff up for her? There were tons of monkey butlers in books, why can’t she have one? She let out a sigh, what a disappointment.
❝ Whatever! I didn’t need those materials anyway! ❞ She started to look around for some more gold and sticks to prove her point to no one in particular, that’s when she noticed the girl. Someone she didn’t recognize. ❝ Uh, who are you? ❞
i’m just now noticing all of the typos in my starters post curse sleep deprived me

“Oh dear oh dear….”
he shook his head at the knocked out woman. What should he do? He shook her a few more times before deciding that she wasn’t going to wake up anytime soon. He sighed out shakily before slowly supporting her weight by slinging her arm over his shoulder. He shuffled over back over his camp and set the drenched woman inside his tent.
“There we are…”
he muttered softly, making sure the woman didn’t have any physical wounds before standing back and leaving her to regain herself. Hopefully she’ll be alright!
“Shut up Rawling, it’s hard enough to sleep as it is,” After being completely out of it the whole time she was dragged over to the tent something Walani said finally seemed to have some thought behind it. After not hearing one of Rawling’s usual snarky comebacks some voice in the back of her mind was nagging at her to wake up. “...Rawling?”
Forcing her eyes open, Walani took a moment for her eyes to adjust, seeing a silhouetted figure before her. She wanted to ask who they were but instead the only words that came out of her mouth were-
“...Why am I wet?”
"Explain the purpose of the red and white hat, survivor."
oh!
so basically there’s this dude who comes into everyone’s houses and leaves presents under a tree you leave out and it’s super cool (it’s kinda creepy but i mean who doesn’t like free stuff) but that’s the hat he wears and i’m feeling holly jolly so i’m wearing it too

❝Of course, sweetheart. Keep DELUDING yourself.❞ Her sharp laughter rang out again. She could tell by her quavering voice by she wasn’t absolutely CERTAIN, and that gave her a twinge of SATISFACTION, knowing she had the girl spooked.
From the night came an eerie croak, then a rather ominous sound… Like a music box. But horribly off-key. And slow. And horribly, horribly distorted. Behind her crept up a shadowy hand, jerking and twitching the closer it came.
❝That reverse psychology junk isn’t going to work on me you know. I’m completely sure of myself and I’ve never lied. Not once.❞ Except for the hundred times before this, and right now. But those don’t count, she decided that they definitely don’t count.
The tune started and so did Walani, first checking around frantically to find where the annoyance was followed by quickly running out into the darkness to get rid of it. As soon as dawn came she was taking every single flower from this meadow and donning at least twelve flower crowns.
❝How do you find this funny,❞ she questioned as she headed back to the fire ❝you’re playing with not entirely innocent lives you know. Whoever you are, you’re sick.❞
