Just because I'm in my 20s and don't have a lot of work experience doesn't mean I'm somehow fundamentally incapable of learning, nor does that mean there's something wrong with me that has made people not want to hire me. It just means that I was an undiagnosed neurodivergent teen/young adult with visual spatial problems that my parents brushed off as "normal" and "not trying hard enough." And it took me a long time to learn to drive. And because I live in the USA in a rural area, that meant I was basically homebound until I finally learned. And that meant that during the time when most young people were getting valuable work experience, I was stuck at home. So I started working much later than my peers.

There are all kinds of reasons people don't start working the minute they turn 16. Some people were ill when they were young, some people are neurodivergent, some people had controlling parents who wouldn't let them. Your life doesn't end the minute you turn 20, or 25, or whatever. That's actually just the beginning.

And while we're at it: living at home/with your parents, especially in this economy, is not a failing. My parents bought their house for a dozen blueberries and a firm handshake or whatever. Meanwhile my pipe dream is to be able to afford to rent. We are not the same.

Yes! My birthday is in early December which I feel like is a time when people are busy with school or Christmas related stuff. Like, when I was in college, my birthday always fell during finals. And people are also busy with shopping, their kids have all their pre-Christmas-break stuff happening, and all that jazz. I prefer this, because I hate my birthday and don't like when people try to make a big deal out of it 😄 I'm glad it falls during a time when people tend to be busy with other stuff.

A couple I know rehomed their cat because they were afraid it *could* bite or scratch their (at the time unborn) baby, and like, no judgement, the cat could be aggressive sometimes and was anxious and not suited to a home with children anyway. But I can't help but find the entire concept a little bit funny as someone who grew up in a house full of cats. Whenever I was being an obnoxious little shit around the cats, I was dealt swift justice by tooth and claw, and met with zero sympathy by my parents because, well, I shouldn't have been messing with the cats. IDK, I survived 😄 And learned not to mess with the cats!
