whenever I’m feeling a little down, I look at the careers of my favourite authors, because some of them came out of the gate swinging with debut masterpieces (what the fuck Susanna Clarke) but others (not to name names, but William Goldman) took a few books and a few decades to really hit their stride. so there is always time to grow and get better at the thing you love doing! you can literally just will yourself into being good by never giving up

extremely mild spoiler for the backrooms, but at the start there’s a furniture store with “RIP OFF” spraypainted on the front, and it tickled me so much. because first off, that’s very mild graffiti. and secondly, who sprayed that??? is this like local teens who know of the store’s reputation and felt impassioned? or did some random adult buy a bedframe that was a little bit too expensive and then feel sour enough to return in the dead of night? it’s just so weird. and no swearing? no dicks or hate symbols? it reads more like a Google review than a piece of graffiti. no offence to the director or puppet director or whatever. the movie just lost me there

As someone who goes outside a lot at work, I am often ensorcelled by fancy gear. I love insulated metal bottles and backpacks with five hundred pockets and a sternum strap. I snatch them up when I find them in thrift stores and on freecycle.

However: mad respect to my coworker who has been using these as his backpack and water bottle for years:

one thing I haven't gotten critiqued on yet but that I can see looming on the horizon, is that I really like to have main characters who are non-human and autistic-coded. and I've seen the conversations about how it's not actually all that validating to have "autistic rep" if the character in question is just an alien or a robot or whatever, and I actually do agree with that (for real!), but unfortunately I want to be a creature so so bad, I just really really want to be a creature. or like a little gnome or bug or something. so a good number of my autistic self inserts will just be awful fuck ass creatures and I apologize for that.
