Her new life begins.
The events of the previous night still playing in Heather's mind as she sat in the kitchen. She'd just made Jed his breakfast and took it to him and now the brunette sat with a cup of coffee for herself. She wasn't up for eating. She'd watched a lot of carnage within the past twenty-four hours and now she wasn't sure what to do with herself. She polished off her coffee and she set the mug by the sink unsure if she was going to have another mug or not. She heard the clinking of dishes and she wondered if he was done with his meal. Slowly she peeked down the stairs before walking down slowly. "Cuz?" she called kind of quietly. She moved to the bottom of the stairs before peering around in time to see the tray with the dishes outside of his quarters. She moved to pick it up and nearly jumped when he opened the door. "Just clearing these away." she promised. She took the tray and headed up the stairs.
Once the dishes were done she heard a knock at the door. She also heard Jed moving like he was coming up the stairs. She moved to the stairs and stopped him. "If I need you I will let you know." she promised him. She told him to stay put while she headed for the door. She'd found a wired bat that she'd placed behind it. If she needed it the bat was there. The pounding on the door happened again. "I'm comin'!" she called as she neared the door. She looked back and told him to backup a little. "I got this." she reassured him. She waited for Jed to get out of sight before she opened the door. "Hello there. Can I help you?" she asked with a smile. "Have you seen either one of these men?" Heather took the flyer and she stared at it. On the flyer was none other than Burt Hartman and his son Carl. Her stomach still churned knowing that Carl had been Burt's son.
Shaking her head slowly she sighed. "No. I think I saw him at the carnival." she said pointing to carl. "I think I asked him where a restroom was actually." she replied. "But the other guy I haven't seen." she lied. "I'm sorry I couldn't be more help." she stated. She moved to shut the door and the man halted her. "I told you. I haven't seen him." she stated again before trying harder to shut the door. "Look miss. I know you've seen them. Are they in here?" Pulling back slightly she slammed the door at him. "No. They're not here. Now if you'll excuse me I have things to do." she continued to try to shut the door. "What's it hurt to let us in to see?" She leaned over to grab the bat. She hit his leg out of the way and he tried to open the door again. "Keep it up. You're going to regret your life." she warned him. "What's a little girl going to do?" he asked. "Do your thing cuz." she stated and opened the door fully to reveal Jed and his chainsaw there for the killing.
