joe being in a season where he is completely out of his depth is so funny. he doesn't like survivor at all. he doesn't seem to even understand what the game is. every time someone does anything it pisses him off badly. i hate to say it but i'm not even mad he's on this season any more.

Unfortunately can't find the source for the screenshot but losing Christian to a Jimmy Fallon fan vote is pretty emblematic of where this season has got it wrong.

Every celebrity-centred twist has been the cause of this season's awfulness.

Billie Eilish's idol meaning Genevieve got literally zero benefit for having found two idols pre-merge.

Zac Brown's reward meaning we got ten minutes of irrelevant nothingness instead of anything that contributes to the story.

Jimmy Fallon deciding that risking a self-vote is absolutely worth getting to cast one extra vote. At the final eleven. Where a single vote does basically nothing except allow you to maybe tie the vote if it was a 6-5 against you. It's not even a good advantage to have. The penalty is even worse. The journey may as well have been "go miss an afternoon of strategy and maybe shoot yourself in the foot".

Oh and you have to TELL EVERYBODY if you got the self-vote penalty, thus removing the player's agency and ability to lie and, y'know, play the social game that Survivor is supposed to be.

You dedicated a whole ten minutes to Zac Brown telling us how much he loves Survivor. So let them play Survivor!

my issue with the blood moon twist is that while I do love twists, I love twists that effect the pre-tribal council phases. swop, idols people know exist, swaps, exiles, etc. When it comes to like, the top two players with the most votes go home, it leaves a sour taste because they can't play around it fully

It didn't actually do some weird thing, it was just three separate tribals. Less egregious, but...
