The way antis will take someone’s art, strip it of its context, and demonize its creators (who btw are often women, LGBT+ people, and POC in niche fetish/ship fanart communities) is very reminiscent of Right-Wing smear campaigns against liberal comedians, writers, and artists. It’s also almost identical to SWERF (Sex Worker Exclusive Radical Feminist) rhetoric and does more harm than good.
It’s very telling when I see people demonize others for the cartoons they make in their spare time. I can’t fathom equating someone’s moral judgment to the artwork they create. Art is often times personal, even if it’s fanart, and is rarely reflective of an artist’s ability to behave appropriately in their day-to-day life. And when it is reflective of who they are as a person, it’s usually very noticeable. Part of deciding to interact in certain fandom spaces is trusting yourself to make your own decisions on who to support and who to avoid, especially when you decide to enter adult spaces. Just because you’re a part of a fandom doesn’t mean you get to decide how others partake in that fandom.
Besides, niche fetish/ship fanartists rarely interact with the main fandom lest that main fandom already be aware of and accepting of such content. If you’re mad about seeing rick and Morty incest porn, perhaps don’t watch rick and Morty at all. Considering who the creators are, what they’re so clearly into, the message they support, etc, it doesn’t make sense to get this upset over incest porn in a fandom whose source material says things like “I wish incest porn had a more mainstream appeal”.
I could go on. I’ve got a million and one thoughts on this topic but it all boils down to this:
Please respect artists by letting them express themselves without demonizing them.
This isn’t to say art should be exempt from criticism. But “this artist is an abuser/pedophile/rapist” based solely on the fictional content they produce is not criticism. It’s slander.
I have a pretty big portion of anti’s blocked but on the off chance you’re reading this and you’re part of the problem I’m talking about, it’s okay to reach out. In fact, I’d even be willing to unblock an anti if I knew they were going to talk to me like I’m a person and not a political statement to make. I’m always willing to hear the other side. I want to work together to fix the problems we all face as those of us who struggle to feel safe in our own communities. I want to know what I can do to make fandom safer for everyone, while letting others know what they can do to help people like me (specifically victims of sexual trauma who use fiction to cope) feel safe too. Part of the problem is how divided we all are and how unwilling we are to listen to each other. I hear your concerns but I wanna talk about solutions. Ones that don’t involve putting a vast majority of creators into a shame box (or worse: social media witch hunts to prevent us for having actual livable incomes off of our very real freelance jobs.)
Please don’t become a part of this problem. Please don’t demonize independent artists who just want to express parts of themselves they only feel safe and comfortable expressing through their art.
Thank you.
While I have your attention..
If you’re an adult who wants your porn to be ETHICAL and CONSENSUAL and DIVERSE, please check out eroticfilms.com !
I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it sooner. Not only do they strive to produce high quality, high production, LGBT/FEMINIST FRIENDLY pornography, they also let you purchase each film individually (by rental or by lifelong purchase) OR by subscription! That’s right! For just about as much as a Netflix subscription, you can have access do over 500 erotic films made by people who love sex, and not by people why just want to exploit women and minorities for profit! And they even post 2 new films a month too so you’re always guaranteed fresh content!
I know I sound like an infomercial but they have their goals listed very clearly! Their films have trailers and descriptions! They categorize their films completely different than regular sites! Please check it out! You can currently get a free film of your choice just by signing up for their mailing list!
You might be wondering “why pay for porn when I can get it for free everywhere else?” The answer is simple: porn production companies with high ethical standards are rare. And we CAN’T normalize ethics in porn if we don’t support it. Perhaps you can’t afford it. Perhaps you don’t even masturbate to pornography! That’s okay. But that doesn’t mean you can’t promote the idea of normalizing this sort of pornography!
Anyway, don’t take my word for it. Just check out the link! You can read up on all your options, all their information, check out trailers, and even find out more about who they are and what their mission is. Again, I’m not sponsored and I don’t work for them. I simply just believe in the ethical treatment of sex workers and I’m sure many of you do too.
Thanks!
Anti logic when equating shippers to real life abusers
Hi! Could you please tell me how I can block tags I don't want to see on tumblr? I get abused by antis constantly, and I have enough of this, and of that I'm forced to face with their hateful sick shit daliy, because they keep tagging the ship's name I love whenever they write something hateful. Thank you! ❤

desktop: settings> filtering
easy peasy, thats your blacklist. have fun and be safe.
noah fence but a minority using hyperbole to exaggerate their hatred for their oppressors on their tumblr dot shit blog isnt a bfd and you should just ignore them and block them if it really makes you that uncomfortable to see “kill all men” on some idiots shithole blog.
like yeah, it’s “sexist against men” or whatever, but stop giving them a platform by replying to them. these people genuinely are harmless. there is no male oppression. this goes for literally any other minority vs their oppressors argument. oppressors cannot be oppressed for the very thing that makes them an oppressor.
this isnt even political. someone making a dumbass post on their blog is just that. stop replying to them. stop talking to them. stop interacting with them. block them and move on. who gives a shit if its cringey? no one is paying you to point out all the cringelords on the internet and you’re going to drive yourself crazy trying to do so.
TL;DR: just block ppl who make you uncomfortable, seem stupid, or are generally just giving off a shit vibe, it’s not that fucking hard.
you ever look at a group of people and wonder what genius came up with this shit? like honestly, this kind of stuff is borderline jonestown type shit, except just on the internet. people will do anything their community tells them is right in hopes of approval. it's pathetic and annoying and honestly you only make yourself look like a fucking idiot when this is all over. and it will be over because communities like these never hold up well when they're formed out of spite or hatred. it becomes an ever growing system of "holier than thou" mentalities that refuse to acknowledge or empathize with other people's feelings and thoughts.
incels, terfs/radfems, the "alt-right", anti-shippers, and every other extremist slactivist community is just a cesspool of the internet's most lonely, most angry filth. the world is watching you and we all hang our heads in shame to know we share a species with you morons. when all you do is spread hate and negativity, that’s all you’re ever going to get back. and that, my friend, is the fucking tea on that.
have a nice day.
hey, i know minors in nsfw spaces is a heavy topic, but i hope you don't mind if i share a dissenting point of view. I'm a survivor of childhood sexual trauma, and an enormous part of the reason my trauma happened was being made to feel ashamed of my sexual desires, being denied sexual outlets that i could interact with on my own terms, and most importantly -- being made to feel like there was no difference between sex stuff i consented to and sex stuff i didn't. (1/4)
I think a lot of minors are made to feel this way, not just me. i constantly hear of situations where a predator can easily make themself the only outlet where a minor feels able to be sexual. I know a lot of adults think that more control of minors, by restricting their access to sexy blogs, will solve the problem, but I think we (adults) too often think that's true when it's not -- part of a larger social system that makes kids vulnerable to abuse by normalizing controlling behavior. (2/4)
i think there's a huge difference between a minor viewing art / reading stories posted publicly online and having a sexual interaction with an adult. I want to notice and legitimize kinds of sexuality that minors can engage in with low risk of being exploited by adults. for me, sexual de-agentifying caused sexual exploitation that I'm still dealing with a decade later. for most kids, they probably just don't get to look at sexy pictures -- but that's still bad, they're people with feelings.(3/4)
all I'm trying to say is that what seems like "playing it safe" isn't risk-free or consequence-free. minors are always welcome to follow my nsfw blogs, and i never ask anyone if they're lying about their age. i apologize for the length of this ask chain -- this is hard for me to talk about so i kinda had to get it all out. and please accept my sincerest thanks for creating the space in which i felt safe to do so. (4/4)
Hey! Always happy to hear some genuine input on the topics I touch on on this blog. Thanks for being so respectful and helping me to understand what your views are, and I can’t help but admit I’m really impressed.
The thing is, the reason I choose to “play it safe” isn’t just because minors ‘shouldn’t be looking at porn’ (because believe you-me, I know theres 1) nothing we can do about that and 2) no harm in being curious in a safe environment), it was also because it is illegal to expose minors to pornography, from my understanding of the laws where I live. That is why so many websites require you to label your account NSFW, or simply don’t allow NSFW at all. The likelihood anyone on here would ever be punished for willingly letting a minor follow their porn blog (without any other interactions previous or post) is slim to absolute none. But it’s still illegal nonetheless.
And since, in my personal case, I post a lot of porn (and often messed up porn) that even stem from children’s shows and not just adult ones, I prefer to do all I can to keep myself safe. I don’t judge others for letting minors follow them. I just personally don’t want that to happen.
However, your messages did strike a chord with me. Even though I still prefer that minors don’t follow my porn blogs, I do see another side of the story and can sympathize. I feel as though now, I have no say in the matter, since it can be such a personal experience for someone. Ahahah
Thanks for the input and I hope to hear from you again! :)
Hey! I wanna talk about something that has been bothering me. I’m a minor 15 years old and I ship rickmorty. I’ve shipped it since I was 13 and made a blog when I was 14. I feel so bad for not being open about my age on my blog. I don’t openly lie about being older than 15 I just don’t talk about it. I feel as if I said i was a minor I’d be attacked. If you could lend me advice that would be great but I understand if you don’t want to associate with minors viewing nsfw content.
Please wait until you’re 18 to start interacting with adults in NSFW spaces. I can’t stop anyone from looking at what they want to look at (especially since I myself looked at plenty of things I wasn’t supposed to when I was a minor) but you need to protect both yourself and the creators you support. I know 18 seems forever away, but it’s really what’s best. And trust me when I say that it goes by faster than you think lol.
Although, I can almost guarantee you wouldn’t be attacked. There’s actually a pretty popular artist in the rickmorty fandom that’s a minor. I have them blocked, not because I don’t like them, but because I am personally very uncomfortable about minors in fandom since I primarily post NSFW content to my blogs. And I know others are appreciative that they are open about their age and are okay with other’s refusing to engage with them due to that fact. I’ve never really seen them get hate for their age, but then again, I can’t speak for everyone’s experiences. I’d actually encourage you not to hide your age, so that we adults can take our own measures to ensure we are safe as well. I would never knowingly expose a minor to NSFW content. And I like knowing that I’m not doing that when I post my art.
I think it’s important to not take blocking as a form of personal attack. You should really think of it as just someone shaping their experience on the internet the way they want it, and you’re just not a part of that experience. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I encourage you, young anon, to block others as well to help you create your own safe experience in fandom. When you decide to be mature enough to look at NSFW, you have to take responsibility for yourself and make sure you don’t end up hurting yourself or others.
That’s just a part of being on the internet.
I know this is a vague bullshitty response to it but TL;DR: Stay safe. Don’t be stupid. Have fun. :)
I have no responsibilities towards anyone’s fucking child or their precious fucking feelings. My blog is flagged as NSFW. My posts are tagged as NSFW. Those are my only responsibilities as someone who indulges in anything NSFW. Beyond that, I don’t give a fuck what you think about the things I post. Block me and move on. There’s no need to throw a tantrum about it.
idk who to tell and i dont want to make a post on my own blog cause i dont want to get targeted but the blog anti-cupcest runs a discord server where theyve planned raids on shipping servers and encouraged minors to participate in the raids to 18+ porn servers. i dont care about all this shipping stuff anymore this isnt right and i needed to tell someone im sorry. i dont want minors to be involved in any of this they shouldnt be encouraged to expose themselves to this.
I do not know how to respond or react to this, since I myself am pretty much done with shipping discourse (what with being completely impartial to discourse to begin with) but honestly, this is a fucking mess.
Why are they doing this? Is this?? Fun for them? exposing minors to the very thing they are trying to keep away from them? Where is the logic in that? Honestly every anti is a fucking moron who has no ability to recognize that other people have feelings and thoughts that might not be the same as theirs. They’re so caught up in their own little worlds that when they find someone who challenges their ideas, their first reaction is to attack.
And like.. I’m so fucking done. This is pathetic at best. Harmful at worst.
I would never in my life knowingly expose (let alone encourage exposing) a minor to pornographic content. And the very fact that an anti, someone who is supposedly all for the protection of minors, is willing to do this in the name of their shitty, self absorbed agenda is just living fucking proof that every last one of these morons is incapable of empathy.
Anyway, if you have/are a part of a fandom Discord (especially one that involves or allows any sort of “taboo” ships), PLEASE stay safe and stop accepting people into your servers.
SPREAD THIS AROUND. I’m fucking sick of antis getting to do whatever they want in the name of “the greater good” when the “movement” serves no good, and only ends up harming everyone in the long run.
So proud to have contributed to such a thought provoking article! As a self proclaimed incest lover, it felt so nice being able to speak openly about my passion for cope shopping. The freedom of fandom is freedom of creativity! And as content creators, we deserve the right to express our thoughts and feelings in any way we see fit!
What are YOUR experiences with taboo shipping? :)
A good read! Please share!
I started an incest porn blog and I am gonna be posting original short stories to it, along with reblogging my fave pics/stories/whatever. If anyone is interested, it’s at @tastefulincest
Enjoy! My fellow kinkers~
All antis blocked on sight. No exceptions. I never interact. I always utilize private block lists when possible and mass block ppl on a regular basis. And I especially block ppl if I see them suicide baiting even if they’re not antis.
I have catered my experience on this website to fit my interests. I am not interested in antis. Therefore, I no longer have to deal with them.
The same can be said for people who ship that ship you don’t like, sweetie.
Move on.
“How is a child supposed to feel SAFE in fandom spaces when you FREAKS keep drawing and sharing THIS shit?!”
Never mind the fact that minors make up a *fraction* of nearly all fandoms, and let’s ignore the fact that fandom spaces are NOT safe spaces and everyone should do their own duty to make their own space safe (by not following certain ppl, purposely avoiding certain tags, blacklisting, blocking, and minding their own business) but uhh, when I was a kid, I had absolutely no problem looking at fucked up shit. Lmfao. Just sayin dude. I was 12 and I knew incest and rape and underage stuff was wrong IRL and I never once felt like I didn’t belong or that I felt unsafe.
And to be honest? I probably shouldn’t have even been on the internet anyway. Especially in fandom spaces. If you’re so worried about children, maybe promote the use of content blockers rather than let children roam free on the internet. The internet is literally Fucking endless. They’re gonna find some shit they shouldn’t see.
Anyway! Have a good day. Ha~
Anti-shippers: I don’t like being associated with people who send threats to VAs just because I’m an anti!
Me: Cool. I don’t like being associated with actual pedophiles who prey on real life children just because I ship two cartoon characters.
Hahahah I just saw a fucking anti give sources to how there are real life murderers out there who based their crimes off of shit they saw in movies (first off: irrelevant, because they were monsters to begin with but secondly: ) and then proceed to say “of course we shouldn’t ban action movies but pedophilia is a way worse crime” and honestly all I can read out of that is “I would rather people be murdered than let you ship a boy and his grandpa”.
Honestly what the fuck lol
