Not me logging on just to say I’m bitter about Derek....Yes, yes I am.

She knew the change would be difficult, but she thought maybe she could handle it better than she was currently. She was still new, maybe that’s why, but at least she could warn Derek that she felt herself loosing grip with reality at the moment.

A soft sob left her lips as she looked up at him, trying to ground herself with his help. He was right there. He was her North Star through all of this, guiding her and keeping her safe. “I’m scared.” She admits softly, her voice barely a whisper as she willed herself to be strong, even as her walls were breaking down around her. “I’m not myself, I’m… I don’t want to hurt anyone.”

𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐃 wolves is minimal. He screwed up the first time around. Ophelia had been a second chance. A way to redeem himself and do this right. After spending time in Alaska, healing himself and his wolf, he came back a new person. A changed person. But even though he was responsible for Ophelia, Derek could not connect with her, 100% on fear of the unknown. Born wolves grew up with the ledgends and stories, the knowledge of their first shift and what it means to be a wolf. Ophelia didn’t have that. Just Derek. And he’d be damned if he failed her.

Fingers readjust their grip on her cheeks. After staring at her for a beat, the wolf crushes the woman to his chest, enveloping her in his arms. “I’ll be right here, ever step of the way. I won’t abandon you. But I’ll need you to be honest with me. Tell me everything you’re feeling and thinking so I can help you. Do you understand?”

Derek pushed her back, lookng at her face. Searching. He needed her to understand because he wasn’t a mind reader. They needed communication. Not just Derek bossing her around.

“Yeah, let’s just… just do it before I change my mind.” If she ran, she might try to run away. Not that she didn’t want to do this, because she did, really, but Ophelia knew herself and how often she’d doubt herself when it came to things like this.

She nodded at his instructions, rolling up her pant leg so he could have access to her thigh. Now she just had to get through the worst of it. At least she knew what to expect somewhat when she felt his teeth dig into her skin.

Letting out a cry, she tried to stifle herself so he could focus, knowing he’d likely need to as well for this to work. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to focus on something else as he began their process, while staying conscious throughout.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄. Derek’s teeth elongated into fangs, if you will, he bent down, gripped her lower back and leg, then bit. He tried to mentally prepare himself for the act, to fall into that wolf zone, but the moment between movements gave him little chance to do so. But biting her thigh, feeling the flesh, muscle and blood coat his tongue and lips, it was exhilerating. Intoxicating. But the moment he felt the magic working, infusing a part of his soul into the human, Derek released Ophelia’s leg, keeping a hand on her lower back.

The woman broke out into a sweat, pain radiating off her in great waves. Derek’s face remained a mask but his hands hovered, waiting. The effects of the bite wouldn’t be present until twenty four hours later. Till then, Derek could give Ophelia another crash course in all things werewolves.

“Are you okay?” he asked, voice gravelly. She seemed to be taking to the bite well. Her body hadn’t rejected it. Though she withered in pain, the woman was strong. She could do this.

isaac nods - he’d already come to that conclusion himself, but it feels like a weight has been lifted to hear derek say it. to take responsibility for his choices. he can understand the whys of derek’s choices, but it hadn’t made it any easier to accept. ❝ no, ❞ he says and he’s genuine. isaac doesn’t regret it. without derek he would have still been that same scared kid walking around on eggshells around his father. he’s stronger now, more confident. ❝ i don’t regret it, i just wish we could have been a better pack. i had a lot of respect for you, i still do. ❞

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐍𝐎 𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐓 of deceit in Isaac’s words. Everything he spoke was the truth. Derek could tell by the steady beat of his heart. And once the words had left the beta’s mouth, a woosh of air left Derek’s lungs. He hadn’t realized how desperately he needed to hear those words. The wolf had done a lot of fucked up stuff. All in the Hale name. But he was older now. Wiser. Healed. He saw the error of his ways and it riddled him with guilt. But the past was the past. He couldn’t change it. All he could do now was accept the concequences of his actions.

“Thanks,” the wolf breathed. “That means a lot.” A small grin tugged at his lips. And it did.

❝ —–  …..  you know, sometimes i wish i was a werewolf so i could kick your ass. ❞   stiles admitted.  though, he’s sure that even if he would become a werewolf, he definitely wouldn’t be able to kick derek’s ass. 

𝐒𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐊 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐋𝐘 𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄 as Derek crossed his arms over his chest. Bunny teeth glinted in the shaft of moonlight, bathing both him and Stiles. The werewolf had thought of it more than once; how would Stiles fare as a wolf? It could be really good or really bad, the bite amplifying qualities that a human already possesses. So it could either go for or against Stiles.

“I’m sure with training, you could come close.”

i see why you’re worried. he’s really hot. he’s got like great hair, perfect body. you should definitely feel threatened.

what do you think i’m gonna do, follow them out to the field and watch them practice while i pretend to study?

i’ve been by myself this whole time. everybody knows that lone wolves, they don’t make it on their own.

we have to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes.

i will bring you coffee at midnight if i want to.

it’s not just sad. it’s more like grief.

what do you want me to say, huh? that i’m a stalker? that i’m crazy, totally paranoid? none of this is new information.

i do give him the benefit of the doubt. i give a lot of benefit to a lot of people.

usually we wait for them to do something wrong before we declare them guilty.

all you gotta do is wait. if they’re really guilty, eventually, they make a mistake. they always make a mistake.

i’m well aware of how you all monitor my emotional state.

sooner or later, physical pain is manageable. real pain is emotional pain. that is the kind of pain that lasts.

you’re my wingman tonight. and considering the state of my dating life, i need a wingman, co-pilot, and a really hot flight attendant. 

you know what you do when you say ‘should’ too often? you’re shoulding all over yourself.

can i ask you to do something else for me? close your eyes.

you know, i was the one who found her body.

even if you don’t trust me and even if you don’t like me, i’m still gonna be looking out for you.

that’s a pretty judgmental myth.

they’re winning, and we don’t even know what the game is.

it sounds like you guys need to look up justifiable homicide.

i know you have skills, but i’m pretty sure i can shoot faster than you can hit.

maybe you should learn to bend a little before someone breaks.

something’s different. with me, my friends, all of us. something’s changed. 

i’m with you, for better or worse. 

i kept telling myself that it was self defense, but i’ve never seen anything like it.

i didn’t know what to do, so i didn’t do anything.

some of us have to make mistakes. some of us have to get our hands a little bloody sometimes. 

there’s a point when it’s not self defense anymore.

𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐏 𝐎𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐀’𝐒 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐄𝐊, forcing her eyes to meet his. “Hey,” he says, hazel hues searching her own. “You’re safe here. You’re grounded. Listen to my voice and look at me. You’re not lost.”

Voice leaks in desperation, gaze continuing to search Ophelia’s gaze. The wolf inside him cries, feeling pain and sorrow that a member of his pack is lost, searching for something. Some one. “Follow my voice and come back to me.”

So, you’re stuck with it.” Mirth crinkles Derek’s eyes before he nudges Ophelia’s shoulder. “Consider it a gift, too, if you want. We look out for each other. We take care of each other. It’s wolf culture.”

𝐈𝐓’𝐒 𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍. And the fact that Derek didn’t answer right away might be answer enough. But the wolf wanted to get his thoughts together before he delved into this can of worms.

“No,” the wolf started. “But I wish I had gone about it differently. I wanted to turn you for my own personal gains and not for the benefit of you, Erica and Boyd.” Hazel hues drifted up to look at the blond. “Do you regret that I did this to you?”
