Now that I can post spoilers I have so many thoughts on the TADC finally
First- the big one Jax being trans? I think a question mark is appropriate there lol. I totally get that reading of their character but that’s not how I necessarily read it. To me it seemed more like they were never given the space (physically or emotionally) to explore their identity in general and this is the first time they’re having to confront that. I read it as more of they’re questioning their identity and not knowing how to deal with it, not necessarily being transfem. Is this me projecting (maybe) but oh well.
Second- I liked all the components but the pacing felt very strange. The big reveal of them being brain scans was told way too soon to uphold any kind of tension. That was only made worse by how Jax abstracted off screen. I think we are meant to see that as they abstracted alone and put us in the characters shoes of they saw them not abstracted one minute, then the next time they saw them they were. But it ended up leaving at least myself pulled out of the story a bit. Taking even 2 min of Jax backstory to dedicate to maybe the first person finding them abstracted would have been huge. I have a love hate relationship with Cane getting a redemption ark. I think it’s kind of sweet, but also him not being dead to me voids a good chunk of what the story was building up to. I think it would have been much more interesting to see them have to figure everything out with no Cane and have to properly deal with the consequences of it.
Third- I love how we got to meet there real life version. It was so cute seeing everyone react to their identities before the circus and see what kind of a person they grew into. It was such a sweet moment, and I particularly liked the bus stop scene.
Fourth and finally- every time I see a piece of media like this I’m filled with this sense of both sadness and inspiration. As much as I’ve kind of shitted on it I loved this series and I’m sad it’s over but also glad it didn’t drag on too long like many things tend to. On the other hand, it makes me want to draw, to write, to create. It makes me feel this deep longing to be a part of something bigger than myself. I yearn to create something that moves people the way this show has, despite the fact I don’t think that’s something I’m capable of.
I think I’m going to rewatch the series now to see if I missed anything that changes my thoughts on it.
I just found out that my favorite song (which is my favorite because of how much I can relate to it) is just will wood recapping a movie about a guy who raises rats and makes them eat his boss and then is institutionalized in song form.
Hate to break it to you, but most people don’t relate to the line “it’s quite confusing to me to try to connect” and “you might seem behind bars but friend this cage is inside out”

I hope people know when I make their drink correctly but not necessarily how they wanted it (like the triple espresso “hack”) I’m doing it in an autistic way and not in a sucking management/ corporates dick kind of way.
I still don’t know the proper way to respond when my boss says “good morning” when he or I walk in. Like, logically I know I am also supposed to say good morning but I don’t wanna parrot back exactly what he says and additionally I don’t know the proper way to say good morning in the context. If I say it wrong will he think I hat him and my job?
Similarly, no clue how to respond when my boss says “thank you” for doing my job. I’ll be leaving and he’ll say something like “have a good day, thank you.” Do I say you’re welcome??? For literally just doing the bare minimum at my job? Do I say “no thank you?” I have no clue. I’ve settled for “no problem” but I’m not feeling great about that option either.
I literally will get into my car after my shift worrying if I responded incorrectly to these pleasantries.
Day 2 of art supply jail! Might make a separate blog just for it. I got some yarn in the mail today but that doesn’t count bc I got it before I was put in art supply jail.
If you do go to Starbucks, please be extra kind to your baristas today! We got up to 69 in queue at one point, please be patient! I thought people were exaggerating how busy red cup day is but oh boy was I wrong. Luckily, I only had to deal with a few rude customers, most were very understanding.
What is art supply jail you may ask, it’s where I can’t buy new art or craft supplies bc I have too many and I have a problem. It’s mainly yarn that’s the issue, but I realistically don’t need any other kind of supply either.
tbh considering all the shit you guys put up with you should have been given the cup for free.
We do get a free red cup for red cup day! Personally, I think for all merchandise (or at least things that are limited time) there should be a preorder for employees. This would allow employees get what they want without effecting what’s available to the general public.
As a Starbucks barista, I have a lot to say about the the bear cup drama.
Full disclosure, I was luck enough to get one as I opened the day they went on sale. Idk how relevant that is to my thoughts about it, but I think it’s important that y’all have that context. It feels like I wouldn’t be being fully honest if I didn’t start with that.
1. My store got 2, the location my sister works at got 3. The most I’ve heard of a store reviving is 5 and some stores didn’t get any. On one hand, I think it’s ridiculous that each store got such a limited quantity of such a hyped item. On the other hand, I’m assuming they didn’t have enough time after the hype started to get more made and sent out. Not trying to suck corporates dick with that, but idk how long they take to produce and ship out.
2. It’s very weird to me how many people are getting mad specifically about baristas getting them. Most stores have some sort of policy where employees get first dibs on product before they hit the shelves, that’s just a perk of working.
3. I think people are forgetting it’s a bearista cup. It’s made to be a Starbucks barista. Not allowing Starbucks baristas to buy them would be like not allowing a Trader Joe’s employee to buy a Trader Joe’s bag. Most baristas who got them were working the opening shift. They had no choice but to buy it just before open. What were they supposed to do, unlock the door, say “sorry I can’t help you so I can purchase this?”
4. People are also saying the baristas are just buying them to resell them. At least from what I’ve seen, that’s not the case. I got mine because it’s a cute cup, not to resell for a profit. I’ve heard similar things from other baristas who were able to buy one. I’m sure some did buy it to resell, but a percentage of the general public is also getting them to resell.
5. At the end of the day, it’s just a cup. A cute cup, but just a cup. It’s insane how worked up people are getting over it. Similar things have been being sold online for a while, but since it’s Starbucks people feel like that have to have it. While I completely understand people who weren’t able to get one being disappointed, again, it’s just a cup. Be bummed for a day, maybe two then move on. Getting or not getting this cup isn’t going to matter in the long run. Personally, if I weren’t able to get one I may be a bit disappointed, but that’s about it.
Sorry for the rant, but I have a lot to say about it. I might come back and add more because I have a lot more thoughts that I’m having a hard time fully articulating at the moment. I know it’s not really that deep, but this online drama has been particularly bugging me since I work there.
