Constant Conversations || Sutter and Molly
The young woman took note of the surprise in the arch of Sutterâs eyebrow and couldnât help the small laugh that followed her observation. She wondered when heâd stop being so taken off guard by her. His expression wasnât a rare one and if Molly spent more than a moment dwelling on it, sheâd quickly decide that she hoped he would never stop underestimating her because the look on his face when he did was one of her favorites. âYes we will. Itâll be a lovely evening, I assure you.â She quickly fiddled with the DVD and hurried over to the couch to take her spot beside him but not before detouring to his bedroom and dragging his comforter out behind her. It wasnât often that they spent time at his familyâs lake house so the place was still a bit unfamiliar, not enough for her to have to ask where things were but she hadnât really considered it a place of comfort yet and that was probably because it wasnât really Sutterâs. There were very few elements of him throughout the abode and until he had a place that was really his own, she wasnât sure if it was okay to consider the lake house his.Â
"So when are you going to look for, you know, your own place? One with heating and no outdoor shower. Although, it is rather convenient." She asked nonchalantly over the trailers that played in the background. They were her favorite part of movies, strangely. The topic of conversation was a bit heavier than the ones they usually had and she wasnât sure what gave her the incentive to bring it up in the first place. The bottle met her lips again and she took a sip before setting the beer on the table to adjust herself on the couch under the comforter - which looked more like drowning - that was much too big for the couch anyway. "Hey can you hand me that.." She asked - more like demanded - fake reaching for the bottle she had set on the table only moments before. The puppy dog eyes were offered along with her request even though she knew that she really didnât need their help. "Oh and one of the bonus rules for me are that every time you sing deafeningly off tune, which you will after one more of those," She nodded towards the chilled bottle in his hand, "I get to drink. Twice."
Sutter hadnât a single doubt in his mind that the evening shared would be lovely. Any time spent with Molly always proved to be more than worth it. She rolled with his punches and that was all he could ask for really in a person. Not to mention, Molly understood him in ways that few others had ever bothered with. âIâm assured.â He announced proudly, watching with a knowing stare as she went to retrieve his comforter. âYouâre lucky I donât make my bed.â Sutter teased lightly, taking another healthy drink from his beer. At the rate he was going, heâd need another before the feature actually started. Setting his feet up on his fatherâs coffee table, Sutter leaned back into the couch to make himself comfortable before the dreaded movie began. Truthfully, he only really knew a song or two by the Spice Girls. But he was in no way willing to admit that. Even though he probably shouldnât, Sutter prided himself in his vast recollection of pop song lyrics.
The trailers captivated him. They always did. It was the glimpses into many movies that was right up Sutterâs alley. He was able to get many tastes of all different genres without having to invest too much time in any singular one. âI donât know.â Sutter shrugged, refusing to unglue his eyes from the dancing screen. âYou get used to the lack of heat, trust me. Iâm just fattening myself up for winter. But I might have to bum your indoor shower once it starts getting too cold out there.â He motioned to the back sliding glass door that lead to the shower with the neck of his beer. Honestly, it was something he didnât think too much of. With his feeble paycheck, he couldnât very well afford an apartment of his own and roommates were hard to come by. Especially for someone as high energy and obscure as he was. Sutter raised a challenging eyebrow towards her as she requested for her beer, reaching out to take it and dangle out of her reach. âThis?â He laughed, not buying her token wide-eyed look of distress. âSo the bonus rules involve you being able to drink more than me? I see how it is. Fine, I shall scream as beautifully off pitch as possible when these boozes settle in.â
