Tomorrows Friday!!! :D
greek life
i am so blessed to have my sorority sisters. i mean seriously. they're amazing. like obviously when you get a big group of girls together there's going to be issues, but i've never felt so loved by such a large group of people in my life.
they're genuinely there for each other. like our gpa is no where near where it needs to be and the girl in charge is working her butt off to get it there while keeping her grades up. i would never be able to do that. she's doing it because she genuinely wants us all to succeed.
they're such a sweet group, i am so fortunate that i got a bid from alpha chi omega
beyonce half-time show
first, i'm going to start off by saying I LOVE BEYONCE. i think she is so fierce and an amazing example of what a strong, independent woman should be. that's why it definitely irritated me when a facebook friend of mine posted "am i the only one that thinks they need to implement a dress code for super bowl half-time performers?"
at first glance without looking much into it, it's just a guy expressing his opinion over social media, but once looked at in more detail this is a guy who was using his voice to try and dictate what is okay and not okay for a woman to wear.
i will be the first person to say that i have a lady crush on beyonce and she looks PHENOMENAL, absolutely amazing. if i had those legs, i would wear that outfit everyday of my life.
saying that this outfit is "inappropriate" for young viewers is one thing, but this is more clothing than most women wear to the pool. her boobs and butt are not exposed, the only part of her that's really exposed is her arms and her legs.
beyonce, like i said before, is a great example of a strong independent woman. she isn't too skinny, she's got curves. she's a great role model for young girls in showing that it's okay to have curves and to like to eat and you can still be beautiful. and when we, as women, love our bodies that much why can't we appreciate them and show them off in whatever way we desire? i'm not going to tell you what to wear in your daily life, why should you try to dictate what i want to wear?
i agree that there is a fine line. like it's not okay to walk around naked or with your privates exposed but when everything that needs to be covered is covered why does it matter?
just cause certain males are uncomfortable with the female body doesn't mean that we have to listen to them when they tell us to cover ourselves up. this is america, we have freedom of speech and dress. this isn't like some countries where the only part of a woman that can show is her eyes.
we are women and we are beautiful, why should we hide that?
a little bit about me :)
my name's susannah and i'm a 19 year old freshman at kansas state university in my 2nd semester of college. i came to k-state hoping to come out of school as a veterinarian, but i had a change of heart and now i'm a family studies and human services major and the plan right now is to help today's youth. i know that sounds strange because i still consider myself a member of today's "youth".
i'm a member of the gamma zeta chapter of alpha chi omega and i love my sisters. #lyrelove i know they'll be here for me through anything and before you judge me, i was that girl that was totally against greek life before coming to school. when i rushed i had absolutely no intention of actually joining and then being initiated, but i just had a really good feeling about this group of women.
my home life is very traditional in the sense that my biological parents are still together. i have 2 brothers and i'm the middle child, and only girl. my life was forever changed on october 28, 2012 when my older brother passed away due to complications with type 1 diabetes and the flu.
my friends mean the absolute world to me. when i lost my brother, i definitely saw who my true friends are and who was going to stick by me through thick and thin. coming into college i lost the 2 girls that had been my best friends since the 6th grade due to a situation being blown way out of proportion. long story short, a girl decided to start drama because she thought that i was having sex with her ex-boyfriend (definitely untrue) and the 2 girls i thought would never leave me, left. well, they left after a lot of nasty voice mails and comments telling me to "go kill myself." although i lost these girls, i gained so many new friends through my sorority and just being at a new school.
this is a blog for me to express my feelings and thoughts without censorship. that being said, it's also going to include really stupid stories of my life being a young (and clumsy) adult working her way through college and how life as a girl can be well...strange.
