When you are standing on a random NYC corner and David Duchovny, rocking a backpack and kicks, is there trying to get a cab.

45 Years Ago Today…
Beatles played their final concert atop the roof of Apple Records in London pn Jan. 30, 1969.
"Don’t Let Me Down" was my favorite number.
Also loved their coats. Not that they were fur (blech), but rather that they were borrowed. John’s came from Yoko; Ringo had on Mo’s red mac.
George had on some rockin’ green pants.
The fifth Beatle, Billy Preston, played with them.
It lasted 42 minutes until they wee shut down by police.
The concert came to an end with the conclusion of “Get Back” and the famous Lennonism: “I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we’ve passed the audition.”
Passed? Nailed it.
“The worst thing I can say about John was that he was an absolutely miserable drunk. Two brandy alexanders and he was charming, delightful, told the old stories, was witty and lovely. By the third he started to snarl, and after that he was uncontrollable."
— Elliot Mintz on John Lennon
40 Years Ago This Year John Lennon's New York City T-shirt shoot. Interesting facts: *Shirt was $5 at a street vendor. *Lennon was self-conscious about the ripped sleeves. *Shoot took place on May Pang's balcony. (After the "lost weekend.") Bonus: His look - right down to his motorcycle boots - is timeless. Read more about it here: http://nymag.com/arts/popmusic/features/69775/ Photos by the iconic Bob Gruen
