holly + nicolas‌.

she doesn’t know the extent of her actions. the consequences that will arise as a result of this. perhaps it is his fault to think that he can involve a woman seventy-five percent of the way. that he can tell her the things he wants her to know and withhold the others. other things like the fact that his ex-wife, paola, has run off into the arms of the rivals. the protection of her and her unborn child for information. an easy trade that the others are willing to make. and now she’s provided enough information to render his organization vulnerable. but nicolas is a fool. he thinks, what holly doesn’t know won’t hurt her — that less is more. but he’s wrong and sorely so. “ you been doin’ this, what? two, maybe three months? ” he’s lost count. but what he does know is that she’s been around long enough to find that tender side of him — the one that is all too attracted to her mind and body. the one that rather find himself complicit in murder than to allow her to suffer the consequences alone. he’s sure she doesn’t see it that way because he’s good at hiding such things. “ i’m just coverin’ myself, sweetheart. so don’t flatter yourself. ” he huffs. “ you’re lucky i don’t put a bullet in your head right now. ” idle threats are all that tumble from his lips now. they’ve been there before with nicolas half considering whether it was best to end her life. and he could have but didn’t. instead, he’d found her lips in a heated kiss, sealing the course of their fates. and now she’s one of his. one he’ll protect until the end. he’s panting, looking towards her as he positions his hand over the body’s forearm and he pulls back with insurmountable force. a loud crack ripples through the room. you have to make him as small as possible, mathias said. 

the last thing she wants to experience right now is a scolding from the male. holly’s jaw sets, gaze unwavering as it stays focused on the male before her. of course she’s brought this on herself. she’s bit off entirely more than she can chew, but all she wanted to do was to provde herself. holly knows she’s already made herself a liability for nicolas. he’s got to expend his resources in looking after her like she’s some child who’s parents have gone out of town. she wanted to prove herself to be an asset to the male, but instead, the femme’s dug herself an even bigger hole... and by now, she’s certain the term is probably literal. “ shut the hell up, ” holly breathes, snapping out of her daze for just a moment. it’s not the first time he’s talked about wanting her dead, and she’s sure it won’t be the last. at this point, the femme wishes he would just do it if he felt so inclined. maybe it would stop the lingering feelings between them — the feelings that made things that much more complicated. holly’s mouth opens to speak when the crack reverberates through the room. instantaneously, the feeling’s back. her hands drop from their clasp at her chest, one making it’s way to cover her mouth and the other resting on her suddently upset stomach. feet quickly carry her towards the restroom for the second time, and the femme takes a few minutes to collect herself once her stomach settles. holly returns to the corner where she’d stood previously, gaze shifting around the room to settle on anything but nicolas. “ what... are you doing? ”

the thing about being at the very top is that there’s only one way to go. and nicolas feels it now, the way his life had begun to spiral out of his control and into a disastrous state. nothing makes sense anymore. his feelings, his actions. and his problems are clear. they start and end with the same woman. a woman he wishes he had the guts to kill. a woman who’s placed him in a difficult space — caught between loathing and something else. a feeling of distress where his heart thumps in her presence. he likes her just as much as he hates her and maybe that’s the problem. he’s there at holly’s beck and call like a puppy waiting to be petted by a gentle hand. but this is different. it isn’t a matter of earning her favorable eye. she’s killed a man and now he has to clean up the mess. “ still wish you were a part of this? ” he cants his head in her direction now, clearly frustrated with her. “ better stop lookin’ at the world through them rosed colored glasses now while you still can. ” and he says this with a stern voice as though it doesn’t bother him to see the way she shakes like a leaf. nicolas grits his teeth now, dragging the lifeless body from one spot of the room to the next. he’s going to use mathias’ advice and stuff the body into a suitcase. a difficult pursuit. 

she’s made the mistake of thinking she could handle this. it’s been months since she’s been introduced to nicolas vidales’ world — or rather, it’s been a couple of months since holly was forced into the world. she’s made the uncharacteristic decision to stay by nicolas’ side. even after the unspeakable had occurred between them, holly found herself looking to the male for guidance. he’s filled her head with big ideas, grandiose plans that someone like her would never normally dream of concocting. in an attempt to prove herself to the male, she’s done a little solo work. holly’s taken it upon herself to lure someone back to the motel the rest of the crew uses for their dirty work. all has gone well until the trigger was pulled... and then, the redhead is left shaken. the lifeless body laying in front of her makes her stomach turn, and it’s something of a miracle that she could even explain the situation to nicolas before having to run to the restroom. she stands in the corner of the room now, hands clasped and held in front of her chest as her gaze follows the male across the room. “ i thought i could handle it, ” she says quietly, gaze dropping as the confession falls from her lips. of course it was going to be too much for her. as badly as she wanted to impress nicolas, holly knows what her true limits are. murdering a man simply isn’t something she can do like anyone else in the organization. “ i’m sorry that you have to clean up my mess. ”
