Two light raps against the ajar door. He offers a precursory disclaimer: “a word? I’m not here to chastise you.” What transpired between Salvatore and Lily would remain just that; between those two. This is intended to be a sort of bonding. Salvatore ended up being his mark when Alessandro chose Teodore and Luciana had Noemi. “What’re you up to these days?” 

salvatore pulled an earbud out of his ear as he vaguely registered his door open a little more. he couldn’t say he was expecting the person behind it to be giovanni, but he immediately tensed anyway. he hadn’t been avoiding his oldest sibling exactly, but he certainly hadn’t lingered for the scolding he expected from him about his interaction with gio’s betrothed. “ what am i... up to ? ” confusion marred his features, but he turned to him anyway, pulling out his other earbud so his attentions weren’t diverted. “ um, i’m taking an advanced astrophysics class to see if it’s something i want to pursue as a second doctorate. ”

he opened his phone straight to the gallery, and into a folder where he’d proudly saved some pictures of his new, expansive, home. “ the house itself needs work, paint, new furniture and fittings, but the outside... ” he had to take a breath before he rambled on for hours. “ in between veletti and latina, only an hour south of rome. once everything is renovated you’ll come stay, won’t you ? ”

            there’s  a  wide  grin  on  his  lips  as  they  begin  singing  the  song  ,  pretty  sure  their  bellowing  voices  can  even  be  heard  from  the  ground  floor  but  seeing  the  smile  on  his  sister’s  face  is  enough  to  make  him  not  care  about  it  .    “    as  long  as  it  isn’t  wishing  one  of  us  goes  bald  .    be  careful  what  you  wish  for  .    ”        @giorxcci  ,  @teodisavoia  ,  @lucianabxlla

Teo jerked his leg away with a hiss and a glare at Sav but dutifully joined his siblings in singing, volume growing to near obnoxiousness before the song finished.  “Yeah, maybe no wishes about hair in general. My vote’s for a million euro shopping spree or something ﹔ y’know, old person things, since you’re so old now.”    ﹐ @giorxcci​,   @lucianabxlla​

A room of smiles is as contagious as it is scarce among them. He tries to stop Salvatore’s presence from soiling his mood. “Make a wish. Whatever it may be you cannot tell us or else it won’t come true.” Waving a hand, “All those wishes on the second star to the right and straight on ‘till morning are null and void. We heard those growing up, Lou. Make it count.” @lucianabxlla​

Having all her siblings together to celebrate her birthday was something Luciana never thought she’d experience today but wanted to experience so seeing their smiles and hearing them sing her a happy birthday (some more enthusiastically than others but still) was the perfect gift. “Hey, it is my wish! I should not be pressured while making it.” With all her siblings alive and together for the first time in so long, what could she wish for anyway? Well, there was one thing. She ignored their comments, except the one Gio made in reference to one of her favorite movies, closed her eyes and made a wish she’ll never let them know before finally blowing the candle out. “Grazie per essere qui. “ come tesoro, give luci a kiss before you eat, ” he murmured into noe’s hair, nearly dangling her upside down so she could cover their older sister’s face in kisses before he lowered her into the seat between luci and teo. “ eat ? you mean you don’t want gifts right this second ? who are you and where is our sister ? ”

“ i bought a house, you want to see ? ” his enthusiasm was coming off of him in waves, proudly showing his siblings was one thing, but showing barbie was another, she collected real estate like others collected coins.

#𝐇𝐒𝐇𝐐𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐊𝟎𝟒𝟎: 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐔𝐓𝐀 𝐃𝐄𝐈 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐒𝐂𝐈.

since joining the program and as such spending more time in italy, salvatore found himself seeking peace and quiet more often than not. whether he retreated to his room in the palace, or in the hotel, being around his family made him appreciate solitude. so he contacted a well-known real estate agent in rome quietly and asked for help in finding a property. off the beaten track, with character, and with room to store his extensive book collection. three weeks ago he got the call from his agent to come and look at tenuta dei volsci.  the villa, built on pre-roman ruins, was everything he had asked for. remote, historic, beautiful. expensive as it was, it’s what his family’s money was made for. if alessandro could have a private jet he could have his dream home. he signed the contract just four hours after he’d viewed it, pausing only to have one of his uncle’s take the hour-long drive and assure him he wasn’t making a terrible decision. the interior needs to be redecorated, the library isn’t quite as extensive as he would like, and he wanted to return to the program in time for luciana’s birthday, so he’s yet to organise anything. though he knows he’s probably just going to ask barbie for her help, as he always does. all he knows is that no matter what the inside looks like, in his opinion it’s the outside that made him truly fall in love with his home.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐒: the villa sits on 1,260 acres of land, filled with forests, archaeological sites and pristinely manicured gardens. a five-acre large english garden designed by english landscape architect dan pearson and a swimming pool sits in the centre of the estate’s medieval ruins. the main house itself was built in the 17th century by the borghese family, and renovated in the 90’s for an italian duke, it boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a library & a gallery. the guest house has an additional four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓: are you an indecisive person?

he can be but it depends on the situation. he’s decisive when it comes to his studies, and incredibly indecisive when it comes to his personal life. 

𝐌𝐈𝐃𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓: are you a different person late at night than in the early morning?

no, not late at night versus early morning, more so late at night versus the middle of the day, he’s usually more easy-going when he’s more relaxed, which is either very early in the day, or very late in it.

5. 🌈 / 🌋

🌈 — a memory about when they first fell in love.

if he thinks very hard on it, he settles on the coronation. he knows, logically, that that’s him romanticising the moment, that it was probably every hormone in his body lighting up at his first kiss, but it’s the answer he settles on anyway. 

🌋 — a memory about their first heartbreak

it was probably when he was around 10, or 11, and gio kept bringing around a girl but insisted she was just a friend and so ten-year-old sav thought he really had a shot ( that savoy confidence got him good ). he’d built himself up in his little kid brain, only to lose all confidence when he found giovanni and said girl in the gardens, doing decidedly unfriendly things. he was fine within a day but for a couple of days there, he really thought she was the one.

𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐈.

“Ah, it’s alright if you’re waiting for family. I think Anneli has some good spot… on the other side of the aisle, I think we’re sitting on Theo’s side.” She pointed behind her with her thumb. She hesitated for a moment, her courage slipping away from at a fast speed. “Or, uhm… the photos have been taken, we could try sneaking off? Have you walked around Stockholm before? The old town’s super pretty, especially now that there’s snow.”

“ i’ve just beaten everyone here, so the idea was to save a spot for us all, it’s easier to avoid socialising if i’m surrounded by every savoy ever. ” he knew weddings were the best time to meet people, but he felt fine on that front, more than happy to sit on his lonesome. “ this is my first time to stockholm, i’ve seen... the hotel, and the airstrip our jet flew into. ” getting away from the cathedral wasn’t a bad idea, if he was in a city he might as well see it. “ will you show me around ? i’m sure even if we get back right before the ceremony our families will save us seats. ”

“ o-kay, then – you’re the just plain RUDE one then. ” he should have taken the chance to save himself when she had offered. “ mmm, i’d rather not. you see, i think i’ve had enough of my family when i had to go ask my brother about what we are going to do to HELP you guys. “ she placed her hand on her hip. xiuying had to admit: it was nice to wear the pants in this alliance. “ now SCOOT over. i’m sure we’ll be sitting by the aisle. better camera angle. “

“ i’m honest. not one to adhere to mindless courtesies just because it’s expected. ” what time did he have for them ? what purpose did they serve him ? none, anyone who couldn't stomach him could leave, he didn't have time to care. “ if you wanted honey-coated words you approached the wrong savoy, literally anyone else would cater to you. ” perhaps she was to used to his brothers already, giovanni was so diplomatic, and alessandro could charm the devil into doing his bidding, and sav had little patience for either skill. “ surely your ego can't be so fragile that you would encourage your brother to neglect an alliance and refuse assistance over some meaningless words ? that's rather sad. ”

𝐋𝐎𝐋𝐀.

    did she hear correctly ?   that very morning she had promised louise she’d be on her best behavior but that didn’t mean she was going to stand being talked to so rudely.   surely,   her sister would understand.   arms crossed,   a perfectly plucked brow arches,   “   and who are you to reserve seats   –   the pew police ?   it’s a church,   not a stadia.   ”

he turned to actually look at the source of the voice who so sharply responded, not that it helped, he found he only vaguely recognised the face and no name sprung to mind, so she had to be someone of relative importance, but not enough for him to remember fully. “ and who are you to question what i do ? there are other places for you to go. as in, literally anywhere but here. ”

𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐀.

the faux leather of her small purse had been set down for mere seconds when the reservation came up. layla didn’t care where she sat, only that she found a seat quickly. had the statement come from nearly anyone else, she would’ve apologized without a second thought, but she still wasn’t keen on the savoys. “i see the italians still want to put up a united front. do not worry, i am merely waiting for someone — unless you have chosen to reserve the breathing air too.”

his gaze was drawn upwards when she responded, and it was only then he understood exactly who he was speaking with, esmeray’s sister-in-law. he would be the first to admit he didn’t linger on thoughts of his former fiancée much anymore, he hoped she was well. “ i didn’t realise not wanting to sit among random acquaintances would be so offensive, especially when there are so many other available seats, my sincerest apologies. ” he only felt slightly guilty for how rude his tone was, but he didn’t make any move to rectify his words. “ alas, i haven’t been able to reserve the air. i suppose we’ll have to share it until your husband comes. ”

𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐈.

“Oh.” Her cheeks were burning. “Okay, uhm… well, I just wanted to say hi. Before the ceremony starts. Don’t you wish just a little bit you would have skipped this? There’s a good reason I haven’t been to church in three years.” She spoke in a slightly hushed tone to make sure no one around them heard her.

sav’s eyes widened as soon as he realised who he’d spoken to, “ no, shit, sorry um, please sit, i didn’t mean it. ” he slid over on the bench and gestured for her to settle in next to him. if she wanted to sit with him through the whole ceremony he wouldn’t complain for a single second through the ribbing his siblings would inevitably give him for weeks to come, but he knew she wouldn’t stay. he leaned in a little, his voice matching hers in level, “ not even a little bit, i kind of wish i had just flown straight to scotland for the party. but my brother is friends with the bride so you know, i’m obligated or something. ”

“relax, sav.” gabriel says, patting his cousin on the back taking the seat next to him disregarding the previous warning. “i actually will be sitting close to margot and i just came here to say hi before i take my place and to ask, want me to introduce to one of the other bridesmaide? i don’t know how many are, but they must be pretty and you look tense.”

“ sorry, thought you were one of the dutch princes. you’re wearing way more clothes though, so i should have known. ” he let the glare slide right off his face, and relaxed in a way he really only allowed himself to do around his family. “ it’s a traditional wedding biel, the maids of honour are the only adults. the bridesmaids are going to be like, three years old. so you know, extremely hard pass. ”

“But the only free spots are beside the English,” Mimi whined, “I don’t want to sit there. All they ever talk about is, like, ‘oh no our King has been toppled and we’re about to begin a Civil war sure to last generations. Boo hoo…’ “I mean, other people have problems too, you know? These shoes hurt my feet, but you don’t hear me complaining…Unless that’ll convince you to let me sit, in which case just standing here is agony.”

he looked up and appraised her with careful eyes, if he caved for her who knows who would try to claim a seat ? but it was mimi, and he was not nearly strong enough, considering the flights he’d taken and the jetlag he was feeling, to conjure an argument that would deter her. wordlessly he gestured for her to sit down, hoping perhaps anyone else willing to ignore his pointed glares would mistake mimi’s hair for barbie’s or ariel’s and understand the entire savoy clan was about to descend on the cathedral, and subsequently steer clear. “ you can sit with us, but if anyone asks i didn’t give in, you strong-armed me into it. ”
