Been listening to this DJ set a lot by King Dou dou. Yes, it's pronounced "King doo doo",😂 And while it's not completely dembow, It has a lot of it in it, and it's great in general. Also I find it humorous that This French DJ almost entirely spends Latin dance music. It just sounds like the most European concept.

that feeling comes from my perspective which is like. i have a bad instinctual habit of shrinking myself and my needs down in most settings and i can see exactly how it makes me miserable. my goal is to try and train that instinct out. i dont want to try and make myself and my mental disability more palatable to people who already dont respect me. having an overly cute presentation of my autism feels like im making myself palatable. like to me it's the opposite of empowering

I was selling BROWN OBSERVABLE PHENOMENA shirts at a thing, and A bus/van of severely autistic young adults (possibly teens, most likely 20s) that were part of a.... program? Group home? Some sort of facilitated circumstance? I do not know what, but I remember seeing a banner or post specifying some sort of aid for autistic individuals.

I was disturbed by a singular odd observation I made. Almost (possibly) all of them were carrying a stuffed character from a corporate franchise, which seemed to match their shirt. To a lesser degree, all of them were wearing headphones. I got the eerie vibe that all of these things were mandatorily prescribed based on existing autism stereotypes. It seemed like whomever went "Throw Pokemon at them until they shut up" as if they were avoiding problems by mandatory use of a pacifier instead of offering an array of coping mechanisms to help an individual navigate a world.

The incredibly unnuanced slogan part of my brain immediately etched into stone, STOP INFANTILIZING THE MENTALLY ILL. That is, of course, a half baked conjecture based off unresearched assumption. Of course the anti-corporate, anti consumerist part of my brain was BLISTERINGLY livid about all of it being steeped with highly commercialized franchises. I've known quite a few spectrum individuals in my life, and while many of them had their fixations, only a handful of them really seemed to encompass media franchises. (Trains, streetlights, cars, ....patent applications... ) And none of them seemed to steep themselves to a degree where every item of apparel or object owned included it. The headphones thing creeped me out to a degree, because those are typically used to reduce environmental stress, I felt like they were being corralled. A slightly more paranoid thought was that they were issued mandatorily to prevent social interaction. (Which would be fine if one decides to do that themselves but it didn't seem like that was the case)

The bottom line was it did not appear to me that these people were given agency over their person or decisions. Which is pretty fucked up, considering that autism is supposedly a communicative/sensory disorder and not processing. Oh god, this rant is long as fuck....

Also while I’m on my border collie-like internal policing hater kick I don’t like when fellow autists go hard against the corny Spencer’s Gifts shirtsification of autism. Reminds me of pulling rank over self-dx. Literally who cares? It’s corny but just because some precocious online-addled 14 year old says she “rizzes them with the tism” it doesn’t make you any less autistic or the suffering you endured for it any less real.

To be sure the commodification of everything and the regulatory captures of the soul— astrology, MBTI, the DSM, what TikTok turned ADHD into— are pretty interchangeable in pop culture. Man I'm really not exactly "bitching" or telling anybody how to live their life! Yeah maybe op saying that specific example is "fascist" is too far but i didnt write that. I'm just really constantly put off by consumerism among my peers. especially in this current world climate. and i rarely ever see others notice this sort of thing too. If anything i'm coming from a place of complete understanding and I'm just trying to be like. Just to look at this from one step further back, let's accept the premise. Let's imagine that there is a type of crime that is 1) horrible evil irredeemable universally-agreed-upon bad, and 2) could somehow be prosecuted with 100% accuracy and 0% bias. Realistically they'll just... vote just like anyone else. They'll help elect city councilmembers they think will better their hometowns, and presidents they think will best serve the country. we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason

torrents work like this

i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3

unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it

i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map

i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs

this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.

crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.
