Aaravos x Reader ~Sewing~
warnings: none
genre: fluff
word count: 738
You fumbled with the silk fabric sprawled across your crossed legs. It's been hours since you've started making (well more like attempting to make) a surprise gift for your starboy.
Aaravos hadn't come out of your shared library since the early dusk of dawn. He had spent these last few weeks heavily reading into spells that could potentially be of use in your escape of the mirror.
To be completely honest, you enjoyed the small space you shared with him. It was quite comfortable and had everything you needed. You loved every second you got to spend with your lover. Which is why you spent hours planning the design of a new cloak you'd sew for him.
Now came the difficult part, actually sewing the fabric together. You often lied peacefully beside your beloved as he delicately embroidered star-like patterns to random clothing you had lying around, so you knew he was skilled in the art. You however, could not seem to perform the task of sewing nearly as gracefully.
A few needle pokes to your fingers later, you sighed in frustration and tossed the pathetic excuse of a cloak to the side. Lying on your cushiony bed in an attempt to calm your stress for a little while, you heard the door squeak as it was slightly opened.
“(Y/N)?”
Shit. You struggled to cover the sewing supplies (which you had stolen borrowed from Aaravos) with the blankets of the bed.
“Aaravos?! Uh what are you doing out of the library so early, dear?”
You mentally cursed at the awkwardness clearly prominent in your tone.
“I thought I needed to take a rest from work, I haven't slept properly in days and its been taking quite a toll on me.”
This was true, you noted, Aaravos’ physique had been on the edge recently and you felt terrible for it.
“Come lay with me for a while, love.” You gestured to the open spot on the bed next to your form.
Aaravos toppled over next to you without hesitation. He immediately wrapped his arms around your figure, nuzzling his face against your chest. You stroked his silky hair, forgetting all about the failed sewing attempt that lay centimeters away from you until you felt the poke of a needle on the small of your back. You held in a squeal, as to not expose your creation to the elf in your embrace.
“Ah I forgot to change into my sleepwear, I’ll be right back.” You quickly exclaimed, trying to get out of Aaravos’ tight grasp.
“Nevermind that love, just stay with me for a while longer.” The purple elf protested.
Shit shit shit. The needle began pressing further into your skin. You couldn't hold in the cry of pain any longer.
“Ow!” You exclaimed.
Much to your dismay, Aaravos had heard your cry and immediately sat up, his protective instinct taking over.
“Are you alright love? Did I hurt you?” He ran his hands along your form, checking for any signs of discomfort.
“Aaravos calm down. You didn't hurt me, it was this stupid sewing needle that stabbed my back” You said, plucking the small needle out from your skin.
“What on Earth were you doing in bed with a needle?” Your lover inquired.
“Well... you've been overworking yourself and I wanted to surprise you with a gift, but my sewing abilities are close to none and when you walked in I tried to hide this atrocious mess from you under the covers and...” You buried your face into your hands out of embarrassment, unable to continue your explanation.
To your surprise, Aaravos let out a laugh.
“Oh my love, you could have just asked me to help you. I noticed my sewing supplies were missing and knew you'd be up to something, you little scoundrel.” He gently pried your hands away from your burning face.
“Come here.” He gestured towards his lap.
You sat between his legs, your back firm against his chest. He grabbed the silk material, which you had made a few stitches on already. He gave you the needle and lightly placed his large hands over your own, guiding your movements.
After a while, you had gotten the gist of sewing, thanks to your darling Aaravos. He sunk into the pillows on the bed, since you no longer needed his help. You remained in his lap, able to complete the gift for him after all.
