Ignis knew him all too well, the driver quick to sarcastically point out that it was merely a coincidence that Noctis had suggested the camping spot down by the river. It brought a grin to his lips, followed by a subtle shrug of his shoulders. Before he could respond, his attention was quickly grabbed by Prompto, who was complaining dramatically about him choosing fishing over playing King’s Knight. “Sacrilege, huh? Maybe I should delete the game altogether,” he teased in an attempt to further push the blond’s buttons. He, of course, didn’t actually intend to delete it. He had far too much fun playing it and looked forward to it when they stopped for the day.
All banter was cut short by the sudden appearance of a daemon blocking their path. Yet another thing stalling them, but one that Noctis was determined to help bring down. The prince swiftly removed himself from the car, sword materializing in his hand in the blink of an eye. Gladiolus (to no surprise) was the first to jump on one of the enemies surrounding their tougher, bigger foe. By the looks of it, it would be dead with one final blow. Taking out the smaller ones first would better ensure their focus wasn’t broken while battling the big one.
“On it!” Came Noctis’ reply to the suggestion of finishing it off. Actions were followed promptly by his words, his hand reaching out to grab Gladio’s own. It was a move he knew well by now, the four always well in sync while fighting. He was soon thrown up into the air, his sword forcefully striking the enemy from above while he knew his comrade would be striking from below. One down. Only a few more to go. Gravity soon pulled the prince back down, his gaze shifting to look over at the daemon that loomed over them while he straightened back up. Its attention was focused on Ignis and Prompto, a massive arm raising and soon to come down with one big sweep. “Ignis, Prompto! Watch out!”
(( @ofscientia - you’re up! ))
Challenging though the enemy was, the four of them were well-prepared for the onslaught, shifting into fight mode with scarcely a breath of hesitation, weapons in hand and positions assumed as the first wave crashed against their stalwart defense. Gladio’s eagerness for the battle to come drew an appreciative chuckle, the obvious thirst for utter mayhem amusing Ignis as always, and it was with no small amount of respect that he observed the complex combination move that the prince and his shield managed to pull off with startling ease.
Turning his focus back to the larger of their foes, sharp green eyes fixed upon the daemon, breath catching in his throat as the giant’s flaming blade barrelled toward them…and Prompto stood directly in the path of destruction. In the time it took for his heart to beat once, the lance in the tactician’s hand was hurled with deadly accuracy to embed itself in the giant’s shoulder, striking with enough force to throw the daemon’s balance off and alter the course of his blade.
Seeing Prompto safely out of harm’s way (for now) Ignis shifted his attention to chipping away at the enemy’s defenses, taking stock of weaknesses and filing them away for use later.
“Noct, aim for the right flank. It’s wounded.” Instructions were shouted across the space between them, loud enough to be heard over the din of battle and the howls of the monsters they fought. Gladio was occupied hacking away at the beast’s legs, powerful blows visibly weakening the giant with each swing of his sword, and Prompto was peppering the daemon’s back and skull with lead, which left Ignis to keep the creature’s attention away from the others. Flaming daggers in hand, he braced to lunge at the daemon’s face with lightning quick slashes.
“Come along then. Let us finish this, shall we?”
@ofargentum hit him with your best shot!
Woah, close one. “Thanks Iggy!” The words are tossed carelessly over his shoulder, all but lost in the din that is their voices mingling with the daemon’s roars. Nice. Eyes catch the link strike that is team Gladio and Noctis and the blonde does a victory pump in the air, free hand miming a gun pointing in their direction. “Noct, another one out.” The joke may only be funny to him .. but it is funny .. and its with another chuckle that he turns once more to his task, jaw clenching in frustrated focus.
Keep it together, Prompto.
Another swipe of the monsters broadsword has him ducking, gun sliding above him as he falls onto his back, bullets peppering the flesh of their enemy’s arm. Awww, yeah ! He moves behind, careful to stay out of reach, as another peppering embeds itself up the creature’s back. Too easy, he think - and too easy it was, for suddenly a splattering of ice bombs appear in the thick of the fray. Feet trip over themselves in an effort to avoid an icy spray, blonde tendrils lying limply against the skin of his forehead and expression wincing as lithe form crashes into Gladio’s back. “Sorry, my bad dude.”
One well placed shot sends one of the devils to meet its maker, lips pursing in a victory whistle as fingers give his prized firearm a twirl, one blue eye winking in the taller man’s direction. “I got your back, big guy.”
@swcrnshield is probably gonna knock prompto in the face but if he does its well deserved
Amber hues did detect the slight trouble that was bubbling up, but Ignis had handled it, leaving him to focus back on his task: Making this big beast fall. A specialty he felt he had on lock, thanks to his strength and greatsword.
There’s a shout, the sound of ice as he’s going to land a swing, along to be bumped into by the gunman, making him waver slight due to gravity having already been working against him. The swing still lands, Gladiolus still standing just fine and he lets out a grunt.
Comes his warning, before the shot is fired, taking out one of the smaller ones that were a bit too close for comfort. But then... The pun.
Arm reached out to grab him, his other holding his sword in front like a shield... But his moment of playfulness amidst the battlefield was interrupted by well... The battle! Another daemon was too close, so his grip on Prompto practically threw him behind the man, out of harms way, while he summoned shield to not only block the attack, but slam it into the daemon’s face. The daemon stumbled back, the force enough to stun it momentarily, but Gladiolus couldn’t focus on finishing it. No, the big guy was getting restless and thus his shield was dissipated, hands taking up the sword once more to try to knock the beast down.
“Prom! Take them out! Noct, when ya got a chance we have problems!”
@princecaelum you’re up, let’s end some of them!
