One of the best things about watching a Library of Ruina Let’s Play is how the setting truly showcases how you can do content that I’d consider NSFW without involving any sexual stuff at ALL. Love Town, Today’s Shy Look and Carmen in her ENTIRETY all are stuff you DO NOT want your boss to see.

On top of that, the way the city in LOR is shown to be one of the worst places to live in fiction is also great. I am a fan of Warhammer 40k and the city in LOR is worse than a hive city. At least in a hive city you have more options and you generally know where you stand. In LOR’s city? You could have gotten a cushy job in a Nest, only for that Wing to fall and suddenly you are putting needles in cakes at BEST. Cannibalism is so common in the Backstreets that the restaurant owners serving long pig have the ability to pick their suppliers.

Yet we are shown that even the most monstrous groups still have lives and hopes. The Carnival for all their horror still has to make money and have good customer service. And they aren’t immune to prescripts.  The Sweepers have families they care dearly about and are willing to risk everything to protect them. These are not one-note monsters, these are people who have adapted to a horrid world the best they could.

In many ways, the sheer apathy found in the city makes it worse than any eye of terror planet. The Warp Train clean-up crew has to scrape the passengers off the walls day in and day out, it has become routine. The Musicians of Bremen still have to make ends meet somehow, even if it is selling human meat to restaurants. Only the very top isn’t beholden to the need for drudgery, no matter what you are.

So, bravo Project Moon, the city is truly something terrible and yet glorious in its execution.
