Calliope had thus far spent the entire day at the docks, either working or taking short breaks. Despite her unfortunate encounter with a Von Gacy there some time ago, it was still the most comfortable place to be for her.
Currently she was, once again, double checking all the packages and parcels to make sure they were all labeled correctly and placed in the proper locations.
Of course, her entire body tended up hearing heavy steps coming towards her general direction. She instinctively assumed it was something hostile.
After taking a moment to tell herself other wise she slowly went to investigate the sound.
Seeing the source in person relaxed her fully.
“Ah! H-hello, boss!” She smiled slightly.
“Oh, bonne journée to you my dear, Hmhm~”
The Director nods slightly, briefly closing his eyes, a little sign of acknowledgement that he tends to favor showing. Fortunately for…well, everyone in Zone 3, Enoch seems to be in a good mood. Though, that’s usually not a good sign for at least one person.
“And how are you faring this day, mon petit ami?~”
“I-I’m doing very well today sir!” Calliope beamed, taking her hands from behind her back and clasping the under her chin. “Everything’s going sm-smoothly and the plastic is as beautif-ful as ever.”
There was a pause, and then suddenly flustered she sputtered out.
“I-I’m sorry, how r-rude of me! H-how has your d-day been sir-r?”
“Ah, no need to worry my dear~ It’s quite alright!~”
Somewhat amused with the cheery little ramblings of this worker, the guardian purrs and waves it off. Of course, he’d never admit it, but the way Elsens just seem to bubble and froth with happiness when content and safe just…makes him feel as if this barren plane of existence is at least salvageable after all.
“Well nothing seems to have gone terribly wrong yet, thank the stars, and the barrage of souls of the dead seems to have quelled a bit…in other words, all is well.~”
“Yet? Y-you think someth-thing could go wrong?” Calliope stuttered, now anxiously curious.
Despite the shortness of her ponytail she reached over her right shoulder with both hands to mess with it.
“B-but I suppose if-f you say it’s all good it is.” She nodded slightly.
“Oh my sweet, you don’t have to worry about a thing~”
Enoch chuckles nonchalantly, a thick wisp of smoke escaping his jaws as he speaks. He watches the plume as it drifts off, leaning against a nearby wall.
“There’s simply no point in worrying over the things you have no control over…it just makes life harder.~”
“I sup-pose you’re right.” She continued messing with her hair, but definitely calmed down.
“So, wh-what bring you down here-ere?” She looked up, changing the subject to ease her own mind.
“Ahuhu, no reason really, just seeing how my darling little workers are faring~ I take it things are going smoothly, yes?~”
He inquires with a smirk, eyes half-lidded, his posture relaxed. Seems he already knows the answer to that, seeing how smug he looks. Of course, the Director would know just about everything going on in his Zone. What sort of guardian would he be if he didn’t?
“Y-yes sir!” Calliope nodded excitedly, moving her hands from her hair back down in front of her chest.
Calmly clasping them together, only sometimes tapping her finger against the back of her hand.
“Everyth-thing is great!”
“Comment parfaite~ Here’s to hoping it stays that way, oui? Ahuhu~”
As of late, things seem to be going well for the Director, and by extension, the rest of the Zone. Busy, mind you, but well. Better than a drought, right? Of course, he’s a busy man…monster…something. Nobody’s really sure anymore. Hell, if you ask him, he might not even have an answer to give you right off the bat. But to be frank, we’re at least eighty percent certain that there’s some mix of genetic makeup in there from all sorts of critters.
“I wouldn’t wa-ant it any oth-ther way!” She trilled, but still obviously a little on edge with the idea of bad times coming stuck in the back of her mind now.
