"She loves me…she loves me not…she loves me…" The famed Monkey King sits with his legs crossed in a green field, his tail curled and idly flexing behind him while he uses clawed fingers to pluck petal after petal from the flower stem in his fist. His eyes are closed but Tang Monk knows his student well enough to know that Wukong is aware he is here.
"She loves…me…not." The last petal is plucked, followed by a harsh breath of air from the monkey's nose as he huffs in frustration. He tosses the now bare stem onto a pile of other discarded flowers, all missing their petals.
"Call it stupid if you must Monk, I don't care." The tone he speaks with says he very much does care.
"I wasn't going to say such a thing, my student. I was just curious as to what has kept your attention for an entire afternoon. Important matters, it's apparent." Tang Monk lifts the bottom of his robes and settles into the grass next to the monkey, watching as Wukong grabs another unplucked flower from a separate pile. He begins the process once more. Now that the monk has a proper view he can see that the plucked flowers are also in two separate piles, and he points to them.
"One for 'love' and the other for 'not', I assume?" Wukong let's his head fall back in frustration as he groans towards the heavens, his tail lashing behind him.
"Uhg, yes. And it's an even tie. Love, not, love, not, love, love, followed by not, not. I thought the whole point of this silly human practice was to find out for certain!" He plucks the remaining petals of his current flower with more aggression than necessary, throwing it into the 'love' pile before starting again on a new one.
"Well…there is a trick to it, you see." Tang Monk starts, biting the inside of his cheek to try and hide his smile. He fails. It's not his fault his student is so silly when his mind is consumed with thoughts of you.
"What do you mean?" The monkey asks, those golden eyes moving from the flower in his fist to his Master's.
"Well, depending on the number of petals and which one you start on changes the outcome. It's not actually helping you find the right answer like soothsaying would." Wukong stares at him for a solid moment, still as stone, before dramatically groaning and falling onto his back, letting the flower drop from his hand. He brings his palms up to rub at his cheeks, kicking his feet and thrashing his tail before letting all his limbs drop to the grass below and staring up at the sky. Tang Monk reaches over and gently pats at his arm in consolation.
"…Why is it all so complicated Master? Why can't I just…know?" Despite knowing him so well after all these years of travel, Tang Monk still has trouble understanding when his disciple is genuinely asking or speaking rhetorically about such matters. He tries for the genuine approach anyways.
"Well…Simply asking her would certainly be a step in the right direction." He reaches out and grabs at one of the unplucked flowers. There are so many still left.
"You know I can't do that. Heh-how pathetic would that be? 'Hello sweet peach, I just want to tell you I love you and know if you love me back? Oh, you don't? No problem, have a good day, I'll see you at the campfire for dinner tonight!' No. No, I won't embarrass myself like that." The monkey crosses his arms, pouting at the sky. Tang Monk does his very best to not reveal to his student that rejection is far from your mind when it comes to him. This is something you both need to figure out yourselves.
"Well. A bouquet of flowers never hurts anyone's chances, hmm?" He asks instead, dropping the flower he was holding right on the monkey's nose. It twitches in response, the flower falling to land on the fur of his cheek as Wukong thinks on his words.
"………Maybe." He finally relents, eyeing the pile with a glimmer Tang Monk has come to recognize as one that means change is coming. Change is coming very fast.
He wishes you both nothing but good fortune.
I love you punch :(
yknow, the "i'm in my chinese baddie era" tiktok trend pissing me tf off, it was fun when it was actual Chinese baddies sharing teas and recipes and their own traditions
people say folks with adhd struggle with "delayed rewards" aka long term goals and as such we tend to focus more on short term rewards. what they don't talk about is that at when we Do accomplish long term goals we don't actually feel anything proportionate to the amount of work we did to achieve it. In my head I suffered for a while and then money spontaneously appeared in my bank account.
"Don't you feel satisfied that your windows are so clean now?" It sucked and it sucked and now I don't care. I just remember the sucking.

🌿 Song Dynasty Hanfu — Soft, Scholarly, and Eternally Elegant

The Song Dynasty (960–1279) sits at the crossroads of culture, refinement, and quiet beauty. Its clothing inherited the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty, yet transformed into something uniquely understated—simple, elegant, and deeply humanistic.
Song Dynasty Hanfu wasn’t just fashion. It was a visual language that carried class identity, aesthetics, craftsmanship, and the spirit of an age that valued clarity and order.
Today, this thousand-year-old style is inspiring a new wave of modern Hanfu and minimalist fashion.
I. ✨ The Soul of Song Dynasty Hanfu
1. Colors & Fabrics
Song aesthetics favored subtle hues—blue, moon-white, ash-grey, pale brown. Nobility dressed in fine brocade and kesi silk, while commoners wore breathable linen and cotton.
It’s elegance without noise.
2. Silhouettes
Loose draping, natural lines, graceful movement. Not overly ornate, but refined in structure—beauty expressed through restraint.
3. Layering
Layering was essential. Women often wore high-waisted pleated skirts beneath flowing beizi; men wore straight-cut robes with belts.
Simple layers, harmonious proportions.
4. Details
Patterns of flowers, birds, clouds, and bamboo carried auspicious meanings. Decorative but never overwhelming—the Song ideal.
II. 👑 Clothing Across the Song Social Classes
Imperial & Noble Attire
Bright yellow dragon robes, phoenix crowns, xiapei shawls—status expressed through symbols and finery.
Scholar-Officials
Subdued colors, straightforward robes, futou hats. The clothing of Confucian dignity.
Commoners
Durable jackets, long trousers, cotton skirts, narrow sleeves—clothing made for life, work, and movement.
Monks & Taoists
Loose robes in muted tones, emphasizing simplicity and spiritual detachment.
III. 🌸 Song Dynasty Women’s Fashion — Styles That Defined an Era
1. Beizi
The iconic everyday outer garment. Loose, breathable, elegant on all body types.
2. Shan / Ao (Short & Long Styles)
Short, lively silhouettes in the Northern Song; longer and more diversified styles in the Southern Song.
3. Xiapei
A ceremonial embroidered shawl—symbol of status and beauty.
4. Moxiong & Guodu
Undergarments that shaped the silhouette, soft and delicately decorated.
5. Skirts
Baidiequn with flowing accordion pleats, sanjianqun with simple box pleats, and two-piece xuanqun for practicality.
Song skirts define movement through texture.
IV. 🌬 How Song Dynasty Hanfu Inspires Modern Fashion Today
From period dramas to cultural events, Song-style silhouettes have re-entered mainstream culture. Designers love its soft palette, fluid lines, and calming aesthetic.
Modern adaptations often include:
short beizi with updated tailoring
wide-sleeved tops with contemporary fabrics
minimalistic color schemes that echo Song-era calmness
V. ✨ Styling Song Dynasty Hanfu in Modern Life
1. Casual Style
Beizi + pleated skirt + simple shoes → soft, wearable elegance.
2. Elegant Style
Perfect for tea ceremonies, salons, cultural events.
3. Fusion Style
Beizi layered with jeans, knitted tops, or boots—tradition meets streetwear.
4. Full Ensemble for Special Occasions
Da xiu shan, xiapei, Song skirts—ideal for photoshoots and festivals.
🌾 Conclusion
Song Dynasty Hanfu is the art of quiet beauty. Its elegance lies not in excess, but in proportion, softness, and meaning.
Whether through a beizi, pleated skirt, or a modern fusion look, the spirit of the Song lives on in every gentle line.
