do you have any advice for writing an app this short for people who tend to write considerably longer apps?

yes! i definitely fall on that spectrum, but took this format from an application i filled out years ago (albeit that one only allowed for 1 sentence per bullet, so a 10-sentence limit). i would recommend trying to break down your character’s history into segments – for example: childhood, teenage years, a Formative Event, adulthood, life in the kitchen. you can have more or less sections, but from there, devote only one bullet point to each of those segments. using basic language and communicate as much as you can in 2 sentences.

from there, take a step back and read. did you communicate what you want in that single bullet point? if yes, great. if not, hit that enter button and devote another bullet to the segment you don’t feel is fleshed out. 

and when in doubt... i’m not going to fault you for the occasional run on sentence or semi-colons.

totally fine, i love these questions tbh! i wouldn’t say i’m particularly fond of karen gillan on a personal level (flashbacks to like 2014 rp where she was the only redhead ever used) but my personal preference shouldn’t count for much. i can see all of them in the rp, but i would adore indya or henry! i could see indya as a chef de partie or server, and lowkey i think henry golding would be killer as the maitre’d (or the sous chef, or a chef). karen i instinctively imagine as a chef or server! but seriously, henry as the maitre’d... yoof.

and oh my god, complete yes to david harbour. that’s an fc we deserve to see in the rpc.

well omg thank you!! i wish i could take more credit for it, but when i say the plot runs parallel to the movie burnt... like it really does LOL. i watched that movie maybe two months ago, which sparked this niche interest in watching more chef/restaurant films, and as with any rper i couldn’t watch something without going MUST WRITE IT. 

so seriously, you should go watch burnt because it’s a rockin’ good time filled with shucking one million oysters as self-served penance and making a grown woman apologize to a slightly overcooked scallop

OOOH ! hoooboy who would i love... we’re a bit model-heavy rn which certainly isn’t a bad thing, but to throw some actors into the mix: i’d love to see a teeny tiny emily browning (particularly as one of the chefs), lee soohyuk (anywhere tbh, but hi hullo as the server that charms tf out of his tables or a severe chef de partie), tom hardy (mercier maybe??), one of my Actual Loves aka the criminally underused remy hii, golshifteh farahani (as the sous chef? PHEW), oscar isaac, MENA MASSOUD AS A COMMIS CHEF omg please, deepika padukone/gong yoo/riz ahmed vibes for the maitre’d, rome flynn as that guy that everyone has a crush on at some point (which he’s oblivious to), hunter shafer as a v sweet server that’s terrified of mercier, charlie hunnam as the sous chef or a commis chef that withstands head chef’s bullshit,

hey! earnestly i like to picture this as being... a combination of whatever each individual player wants. while i feel there’s a certain expectation that the majority of threads are text-heavy (whether that means 2 paragraphs to you, or 3-4+, i don’t mind), i have no qualms with seeing some gif chats and one liners on the dash as well!
