late night thinking about the levels of audience awareness of different hamilton characters. burr is the primary narrator. but he can let hamilton "tell it."

daveed decribes a difference between lafayette and jefferson being lafayette is fully immersed in what he's doing but jefferson is playing to the audience (and if you don't laugh he's pissed).

the king says "enjoy my show" in the little preshow announcement and stomps his foot to turn the lights blue like he owns the place.

sometimes monologues are characters working things out with themselves. sometimes they're working things out with us, the audience, the future, the America Now, the history having its eyes on them. leslie says the audience is his scene partner. when burr says "they won't teach you this in ypur classes" he's negotiating with us.
