You were asked by you’re close friend to interview a new “up and coming band” for their zine, so there you were, just as the sun was setting you arrived it had been a hot summers day, people crowding the grounds of the festival at every turn, as you entered the artist area it became a bit more relaxed, rows of tour busses creating cool shaded spots, and the smell of barbecue food and smoke clouded the air.
As you reached the bands tour bus, only one member emerged, who you knew from your research as the lead singer, Patrick Stump, you thought he was honestly quite sweet, and he had an amazing voice, you didn’t realise you’d been staring.
A voice cut through the silence:
“sorry the other guys couldn’t be here something came up, ”, his voice brought you out of your trance, even more perfect than in the songs, you shake your head so you can think straight, “oh that’s fine we can still do the interview! i just need to sort the audio recorder out” you say as you get the recorder out, getting ready to start the recording, “just introduce yourself when you’re ready, okay?” you watching him stand up straight, trying to look more confident, making you laugh slightly, making him smile, “okay i’m ready”, you start the recording, “hey it’s me Patrick from Fall out boy, we just came out with our album “take this to your grave” and we hope you guys are enjoying it” as much as he’s trying to seem confident you can still tell he’s a little nervous, so you support him by watching with interest and nodding along to his talking “so how’s playing here been for you? it’s surely different to what you’ve played before.” he stood there for a moment thinking “yeah it’s been different but it’s great, getting to see all these people who love our music and the people who are being introduced to our stuff because they’ve heard it here, plus it’s better playing somewhere other than basement and dingy bars” he laughs, and it’s contagious, you can tell why the band is getting popular, not just for their music but for him as a person as well, you can’t deny he’s attractive in a sweet way.
The interview continues, him getting more comfortable and showing his genuine self as you ask more questions, making you laugh at his jokes and stories, just talking like friends, and you saw the way he was looking at you, it made you blush.
As the interview comes to a close you finish with some words “i’ve bee here with Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy, do you have any last words?”, you look at him waiting to see if he’d say anything. “yeah i just really wanna thank our fans, i’m sure if the rest of band were here they’d say the same thing, we wouldn’t be here without you guys, we hope to do some more shows soon” and with that the interview finishes, and you’re staring at him again which makes him laugh, making you go shy.
“you’re really pretty you know”
He blurts out then looks slightly shocked he’d say such a thing, looking at him blushing “thank you… uh you’re amazing” you reply “you seem like a really genuine person, you don’t get a lot of people like that”
Slowly he pulls something out of his pocket, it looks like a receipt, he turns it over writing something down on it and handing it to you, it’s his number.
“i’d really like to talk to you again, not like an interview or anything.. uh, like a date?” he says looking around at anything but you, adjusting his glasses. “yeah i’d like that, a lot” he smiles at your words, stepping closer, “i’m happy you want to, really happy” he smiles kissing you on the cheek, “i’ll text you okay i’ve gotta go, i can’t wait to see you again” his smile was the biggest you’d seen it since you met him, making you just as excited
“i can’t wait to hear from you again” you reply back, matching his excitement, and with that you both parted ways both waiting till you’ll see each other again.
