“Oh-! Oh, hi, Steven!” The gem couldn’t help but jump as the boy appeared so suddenly, and in the middle of something so embarrassing! Oh, well, it was all soon chased away by the fact that she got to see her friend again!

Seeing Lapis was always nice. It was not often that the blue Gem came around to the temple, and Steven eagerly looked forward to her visits. Every day with her was an adventure!

      Quietness that rings in the cave, mellow humming from an orange dog stretching in between cracks with a boy on his back, a shiver runs up his spine - an ADVENTURE awaits in the approaching light, closer does it come and softer does everything P-A-L-E in comparison to the smell of sea salt and sounds of seagulls. He squints in the sunlight, pupils acting sunshy in the hot and breezy afternoon. Finn presses his lips together.

“What about this one? I think it’s shaped like Mayor Dewey! Or maybe like Pearl if you squint. What do you think, Lion?”

Beach combing was a serious hobby for the half-Gem, and the interpretation of sea shells and the like was especially important. Steven liked to play a game of trying to see the faces of his friends and family in the warped and wavy edges of his treasures. Lion was there as a trusted if somewhat indifferent consultant. The rosy feline gave the piece of green sea glass a cursory sniff before snorting.

“Yeah, you’re right. We’ll just put this in the ‘pointy-nose’ pile until later. Now for the next o- Oh.” His companion’s sudden growl had the boy glancing up, only to meet the eyes of a strange boy with a white hat. “Oh, sorry, didn’t see you there, friend.”

“Hrm.” Jasper gave a grunt as she suddenly dropped down, landing with a whump to sit cross-legged in the sand next to Steven. Reaching up, she ran her fingers through her hair, brows furrowing as she concentrated. “Alright.. hold on.. give me a second to think of what to say. I’m not great at this.. emotional stuff.”

About five seconds passed before she spoke up again. “Alright! I got it. So you’re.. half-Gem half-human, right? That’s a whole new idea to.. everyone. Gems included. So it’s bound to take some getting used to but.. instead of thinking of it as, like, you’re not part of either.. why not think of it as you being part of both? Humans can help you with your human problems and Gems can help you with your Gem problems and whatever else comes from you being a mix.. you just gotta figure out yourself. Easy.”

“That...” Blinking once or twice, the boy’s frown faded to a thoughtful expression. Scratching his head Steven looked out on the ocean. “That actually makes a lot of sense. I guess... I guess for a while I’ve been thinking that I can’t be a part of one or the other since I’m half-and-half. Thanks... Thank you helping me remember I’m not alone.”

“Jasper, I know I’ve got the others for Gem problems, but... is it okay if I come and ask you for help sometimes, too?”

//I could use a little feedback if you guys have a moment? I really want to get back into the swing of roleplaying on tumblr again. I’m having a little bit of trouble. What would you guys suggest I add, change, or take away from this blog to make it a more appealing blog to other roleplayers here?
