Large #1 âTell a Story, Storytellerâ
Planning
A) Attend RLA PLCs for each grade level to discover current and future writing prompts along with what their writing embedded stations are producing.
B) Prepare signage.
C) Figure out an amount of time that is reasonable for submissions, review, and publishing.Â
Promotion
A) Share former writing pieces from years past and those that are currently available in our Student Writing section.Â
B) Showcase how to search in our OPAC â each student writing piece has a record created, an image of their cover, and a synopsis.Â
C) Hang signage throughout the building, post to social media (encourage families to work together), share in Google Classroom.
Preparations
A) Set up basket setup for writing submissions.
B) Print posters to hang in hallways and library.
C) Add a promotional .png to their library Google Classroom with a write-up.
D) Make the time and have a committee formed to read through each story, check for spelling, grammatical errors, story organization and content.
Procedures
A) Students will submit their writing to the library (place in a basket on the circulation desk). Submissions need a first & last name, grade level, and homeroom teacherâs name. If there is no name, then submissions will be set to the side.
B) Committee will meet and work on their own to review submissions and suggest corrections and updates for the student writer to update before working on their final product.
C) Once the final product is ready for submission, the writing will have a record created so that students may check out.
D) Submissions will be highlighted through our hallway TVs, lunch time video with pictures of the author, book, and a quip. These will be added to our VLC, Edlio websites, and social media accounts (with student permission).
E) Final products will need to meet certain qualifiers, such as no notebook paper, may be typed or neatly written by hand, illustrated (may be done by another student) with or without color, and bound by lamination.
 Payoff
A) Seeing writing from peers could motivate more students to publish, expand their own writing styles, and potentially, one day, be motivated to publish stories for everyone to read. A small seed can grow a mighty plant.

My students have enjoyed this part of our library. They create advertisements for their books and LOVE that they become part of the library collection (legit with barcodes and all).Â
