6 months of consistent lifting and I'm squatting my own body weight, but couldn't do a single pull up to save my life.
Progress is weird, but fun nevertheless.

Still haven't decided if flyers are more sadistic or masochistic, cause they seem to quite enjoy hitting everybody else in their lane, but that's also while experiencing whole body pain themselves?
I’ve never taken swimming lessons before (i’m a 16 y/o boy) and i’m so scared! i’m taking them at the YMCA my mom works at and i have to take it with adults + im scared !! tips?
Don’t be scared, learning to swim is fun! And imo adult are better company for learning things, because they usually don’t mess around or interrupt the instructor.
I’m not from the US, so I don’t know how lessons at the YMCA work, but I’d suggest you:
- bring everything you’ll need - most importantly a suit you feel comfy and can move in!
- maybe check out some yt videos before, so you won’t be as confused (at least that’s what I did when I was learning fly with a personal coach last summer 😁)
- relax, you will do great!
Coaching truths
Me: You're not supposed to enjoy watching us suffer.
Coach: That's what I'm paid for.
Me: Oh.
I heard someone call 50 breaststroke 50 boob today I’m done
Getting annoyed when we skip fly relays and go straight to backstroke means progress, right? 😄
How to have fun in a pool - a guide for swimmers 🐳
don’t put your cap on
don’t do a 400IM as warmup
don’t warm up at all
fly is generally frowned upon when you’re at the pool with your friends or fam
bringing a ball and attempting to teach them water polo is much better 🤽
do somersaults! front, back, as many in a row as you can,...
handstands are fun too
BLOW RINGS UNDERWATER
pretend you’re a mermaid (finally a good use for your majestic underwaters!)
jumping and diving in is great - and other people will be doing it too! don’t just do race starts though, get more creative
invent a new stroke
CHICKEN FIGHTS (google if you don’t know these, it super fun and violent 😁)
pull on the lane lines all you want and enjoy it while it lasts 😈👿

“Everything you feel can be fuel.
Joy. Outrage. Giddiness. Fear. Love. Anger. Affection.
You can let it power the rocketship or blow up the rocketship.
But YOU’RE the rocketship.
And we need you.
Recognize what you’re working with.
Now fly.” ~ Lin-Manuel Miranda
Probably the hardest practice of my life so far
And I survived it!!! Although I have to admit my whole body was shaking after these 100 minutes of hell, but I felt so accomplished 😍
Summary: Me had to do 2.7 km in sprints because me is too slow for the intervals, me still has all legs and arms though
